Step-by-Step Instructions:
1. Lower Muffler:
- Lower the muffler by removing the (2) rearmost rubber hangers.
- Spray a lubricant on the rubber hangers to make removal easier.
- Note: Ensure the exhaust is supported before removing the rubber hangers.
2. Remove Underbody Appearance Panels (If Present):
- Remove (2) plastic underbody panels, one on each side, located under the rear bumper and behind the rear wheels.
- Use a standard screwdriver to remove the plastic push rivets, then pull down to detach the panels.
- Set the panels aside for later reinstallation.
3. Raise Hitch into Position:
- Lift the hitch over the tailpipe(s) and align the holes in the hitch with the existing weldnuts in the frame rail.
4. Install Fasteners:
- Install (7) M10 bolts and conical toothed washers as required.
5. Tighten Fasteners:
- Torque all M10 CL10.9 fasteners to 42 lb-ft (57 N·m).
6. Raise Muffler:
- Raise the muffler back into position and reattach the rubber hangers, one on each side.
7. Modify Exhaust Hangers (If Necessary):
- If additional clearance is required between the muffler and hitch, bend the (2) metal exhaust hanger rods downward, one on each side.
8. Reinstall Plastic Appearance Panels (If Present):
- Using the existing fasteners, reinstall the (2) plastic appearance panels removed in Step 2.

- 7 × M10 × 1.25 × 30 mm CL10.9 Bolts
- 7 × 3/8" Conical Toothed Washers
Safety Notes:
- Always wear safety glasses during installation.
- Periodically check the hitch to ensure all fasteners and the hitch ball are securely tightened.
- If the hitch is removed, plug all holes in the trunk pan or body panels to prevent water and exhaust fumes from entering.
- Damaged hitches or balls should be removed and replaced.
- Do not cut access or attachment holes with a torch.

Installation Instructions for T-One® T-Connector for Kia Sportage

Step-by-Step Instructions:

Remove the Driver-Side Taillight:
- Open the rear hatch.
- Remove the two screws holding the driver-side taillight assembly.
- Pull the taillight housing directly rearward to remove it.
- Set the taillight housing aside.

Access the Underbody Panel:
- Underneath the rear of the vehicle on the driver’s side, locate the plastic appearance panel.
- Use a trim panel puller to remove the clips holding it in place.
- Remove the plastic nuts to take off the panel and set it aside.

Locate the Vehicle’s Wiring Harness:
- Underneath the rear of the vehicle on the driver’s side, locate the wiring harness.
- Disconnect the connector carefully to avoid damaging the locking tabs.
- Ensure all connector surfaces are clean and free of dirt.

Connect the T-One® Harness:
- Plug the T-Connector with the yellow and green wires into the vehicle’s matching connector.
- Ensure all connections are fully inserted and the locking tabs are secure.

Ground the White Wire:
- Find a suitable grounding point near the connector.
- Clean the area to remove dirt and rustproofing.
- Drill a 3/32” hole and secure the white wire using the provided eyelet and screw.
Caution: Verify what is behind the surface before drilling to avoid damage or injury.

Route the T-Connector to the Taillight Pocket:
- Route the T-Connector with the red and brown wires up to the driver’s side taillight pocket.
- Plug the T-Connector into the vehicle’s mating connectors.
- Ensure all connectors are fully inserted with locking tabs in place.
- Reassemble the taillight assembly.

Connect the Power Wire:
- On the driver’s side, locate the black 12-gauge power wire from the T-One® Connector box.
- Attach the provided black wire and route it along the vehicle’s frame to the engine compartment, avoiding areas that may pinch or damage the wire.
Warning: Avoid routing near hot pipes, heat shields, or the fuel tank.

Connect to the Vehicle Battery:
- Disconnect the vehicle’s Negative (-) battery cable.
- Remove the fuse from the yellow fuse holder.
- Attach the ring terminal to the Positive (+) battery cable and secure it.
- Connect the other end of the fuse holder to the black 12-gauge wire using the provided yellow butt connector.

Reconnect the Battery and Test:
- Reconnect the Negative (-) battery cable.
- Insert the 15-amp fuse into the fuse holder.
- Test the installation using a test light or trailer.

Mount the Black Box Module:
- Find a flat surface in an out-of-the-way location and mount the black box to prevent damage or rattling.

Secure the Wiring Harness:
- Use the provided cable ties to secure the harness, avoiding areas that may pinch, cut, or melt the wire.

Replace the Appearance Panel:
- Reinstall the appearance panel and any clips removed during installation.

Route the 4-Flat Connector:
- Route the 4-flat harness to the center of the vehicle.
- Mount the 4-flat end in an accessible location using a bracket or electrical box (not included).
