Installation Instructions for Trailer Tow Harness

Step-by-Step Instructions:

Locate the vehicle’s 7-way factory harness near the rear bumper. Carefully disconnect the connector, ensuring not to break the locking tabs. Clean the mating surfaces if necessary, and install the Trailer Tow Harness between the mating plugs.
- Note: For specific vehicle models, the connector shape may vary.

Identify a suitable mounting point, typically on the driver’s side between the rear post and the wheel well area. Route the harness to this location, leaving approximately 4” of extra length. Ensure the trailer’s wire harness has adequate length to reach this point and that there is at least 5” of clearance behind the mounting surface.
- Warning: Avoid routing wires near hot pipes, heat shields, the fuel tank, or any pinch points.

Drill a pilot hole using a 1/4” bit at the selected mounting location. Verify wire lengths and use a 2” hole saw to cut the final mounting hole.
- Note: For vehicles with a bedliner, notch the liner or use longer screws (not provided) to mount directly into the bedliner and body panel.
- Note: Apply a rust-proof coating to drilled areas to prevent rusting (not provided).

Use the 7-way connector as a guide to mark mounting hole locations with a center punch. Drill four 3/32” holes as marked.

Route the harness through the mounting hole and connect the 7-way end to the harness. Secure the 7-way harness to the vehicle surface using the provided self-tapping screws.

Secure the harness to the vehicle using the provided cable ties.
- Warning: Avoid routing wires near hot pipes, heat shields, the fuel tank, or pinch points.

Use dielectric grease to seal connections when plugging in wiring harnesses and connectors. This will prevent moisture from compromising connections and avoid setting off error codes on brake controls or plug corrosion. If error codes occur, disassemble and dry connectors to reset them.

- All connections must be completed for proper functionality. Test and verify the installation using a test light or trailer.
