Installation Instructions for Kia Niro

Step-by-Step Instructions:

Lower Muffler:
- Remove three (3) rubber isolator hangers from the hanger rods to lower the muffler.
- Support the exhaust to prevent damage.
- Apply lubricant or soapy water to ease removal.

Remove Underbody Panels:
- Using a flat head screwdriver, remove the push pin rivets located at the lower edge of the fascia.
- Use a 10mm socket to remove the plastic nut at the upper portion of the underbody panel.
- Repeat for the opposite side.

Trim Driver-Side Underbody Panel:
- Use a utility knife or another cutting tool to trim the driver-side underbody panel as shown in Figure 1.
- Ensure the forward-most bolt hole on the upper portion is left intact for reattachment.

Trim Fascia:
- Use a tape measure, marker, and utility knife to cut a notch approximately 2-1/2” wide x 3” deep in the lower part of the fascia, centered on the vehicle (see Figure 2).
- Note: Inside the trim area is rigid plastic, which may require a hacksaw or suitable tool to cut.

Install Hitch:
- Raise the hitch into position over the exhaust, aligning holes in the hitch with existing weldnuts in the frame rails.
- Ensure the vehicle weldnuts are clean and free from rust or debris.
- Install M10 bolts and conical washers (teeth side facing the hitch) with a 16mm socket—two (2) per side.

Tighten Fasteners:
- Use a torque wrench to tighten all M10 CL10.9 bolts to 42 ft-lb (57 N*m).

Reattach Exhaust and Underbody Panels:
- Reattach the exhaust onto the three hangers removed in Step 1.
- Reinstall the underbody panels using the original hardware removed in Step 2.
Torque Specifications:
- M10-1.25 CL10.9 bolts: 42 ft-lb (57 N*m)
Hardware List:
- (4) Hex Bolt, M10 x 1.25 x 35mm CL10.9
- (4) Conical Washer, 3/8"
Safety Notes:
- Frequently check the hitch to ensure all fasteners and the ball are securely tightened.
- If the hitch is removed, plug all holes in the trunk pan or other body panels to prevent water or exhaust fumes from entering.
- Replace any damaged hitch or ball immediately.
- Observe safety precautions when working beneath a vehicle and wear eye protection.
- Do not cut access or attachment holes with a torch.

Installation Instructions for T-One® T-Connector for Kia Niro

- Wire Crimpers
- Wire Cutters

Step-by-Step Instructions:

Prepare the Vehicle:
- Open the tailgate and remove the cargo door on the floor.
- Carefully remove the floor trim panels and access panels on each side of the vehicle.
- Set aside all items removed, ensuring no parts are damaged.

Locate the Taillight Wiring Harness:
- Inside the access panel areas on both the driver and passenger sides, locate the vehicle’s taillight wiring harness.
- Disconnect the connectors carefully, ensuring not to break the locking tabs. Clean all connector surfaces of dirt.

Connect the Driver-Side T-Connector:
- Insert the T-One® Connector end with the yellow wire between the vehicle wiring connectors.
- Ensure connectors are fully inserted with locking tabs in place, avoiding damage.

Route the Passenger-Side T-Connector:
- Route the T-One® Connector end with the green wire through the trim panel access hole, across the threshold, and into the passenger-side trim panel access hole.
- Repeat Step 3 for the passenger side using the T-One® Connector end with the green wire.

Ground the White Wire:
- Locate a suitable grounding point near the connector, such as the vehicle’s frame or crossmember.
- Clean the area of dirt and rustproofing. Drill a 3/32” hole and secure the white wire using the provided eyelet and screw.
Caution: Verify what is behind any surface before drilling to avoid damage or injury.

Connect the Power Wire:
- On the driver’s side, locate the black 12-gauge power wire from the T-One® Connector box.
- Attach the provided black wire and route it along the exterior frame or follow existing wiring to the engine compartment up to the battery.
- Avoid areas that may pinch, cut, or break the wire.
Warning: Avoid routing near hot pipes, heat shields, or the fuel tank.

Connect to the Vehicle Battery:
- Disconnect the vehicle’s Negative (-) battery cable.
- Remove the fuse from the yellow fuse holder. Attach the ring terminal to the Positive (+) battery cable.
- Connect the other end of the fuse holder to the black 12-gauge wire using the provided yellow butt connector.

Reconnect the Battery and Test:
- Reconnect the vehicle’s Negative (-) battery cable.
- Insert the 15-amp fuse into the fuse holder.
- Test the installation using a test light or trailer.

Mount the Black Box Module:
- Locate a flat, out-of-the-way surface and mount the black box module to prevent damage or rattling.

Secure the Wiring Harness:
- Use the provided cable ties to secure the T-One® Connector harness, avoiding areas that may pinch, cut, or melt the wire.

Store the 4-Flat Connector:
- Store the 4-flat connector in the rear cargo area when not in use.
