Step-by-Step Instructions:

Remove Underbody Panel:
- If installed, remove 10 screws using a 5.5mm socket and 2 plastic nuts using a 10mm socket.
- Set the panel aside for reinstallation later.

Lower Exhaust:
- Use exhaust removal pliers and lubrication to remove the rubber isolator from the hanger.
- For the 1.0L turbo, remove the hanger on the passenger side.
- For the 2.0L, remove the hanger on both sides.
- Note: Remove the passenger-side isolator from the top hanger and the driver-side isolator from the bottom hanger.

Remove Fasteners:
- Remove 2 vertical 10mm bolts from each side using a 15mm socket (4 bolts total).
- If additional clearance is needed, disconnect the electrical wire from the driver-side frame rail by pulling down on the attachment housing.

Raise Hitch:
- Raise the hitch over the passenger-side hanger first, then over the driver-side hanger, and slide it into place.

Install Fasteners:
- Install the supplied fasteners:
- Attach M10 bolts (item j) with conical washers (item k) into the existing weld nuts.
- Form and insert the handle nut (item o) into the access hole and through to the attachment hole, then install the 1/2"-13 bolts (item l), flat washers (item m), and lock washers (item n).
- Install the supplied fasteners:

Torque Fasteners:
- Tighten all 1/2"-13 GR5 fasteners to 50 lb-ft (68 N*m).
- Tighten all M10-1.5 CL10.9 fasteners to 38 lb-ft (52 N*m).

Raise Exhaust:
- Reattach the hangers and reconnect the electrical wire if removed during Step 3.

Trim Underbody Panel:
- If installed, trim the underbody panel as follows:
- Measure 4 5/16" from the passenger-side attachment hole and mark the center line.
- Trim a 5 1/2" x 6" section in the center/rear of the panel.
- Trim a 2" section 20 5/16" from the center line toward the passenger side, leaving a 1" tab in the rear for fascia reattachment.
- Trim a 2" section 17 1/4" from the center line toward the driver side, leaving a 1" tab in the rear for fascia reattachment.
- If installed, trim the underbody panel as follows:
Torque Specifications:
- 1/2"-13 GR5 bolts: 50 lb-ft (68 N*m)
- M10-1.5 CL10.9 bolts: 38 lb-ft (52 N*m)
Hardware List:
- (4) Hex Bolts, M10 x 1.5 x 35mm CL10.9
- (4) Conical Washers, 3/8" (Part# 01292006)
- (2) Hex Bolts, 1/2"-13 x 1.5" GR5

Safety Notes:
- Frequently check the hitch to ensure all fasteners and the ball are securely tightened.
- If the hitch is removed, plug all holes in the trunk pan or other body panels to prevent water or exhaust fumes from entering.
- Replace any damaged hitch or ball immediately.
- Observe safety precautions when working beneath the vehicle and wear eye protection.
- Do not cut access or attachment holes with a torch.

Installation Instructions for Modulite® HD Protector Vehicle Wiring

- Phillips Head #2 Screwdriver
- Wire Cutters
- Wire Strippers/Wire Crimpers
- Tester or Volt Meter
- Socket & Ratchet Set
- Drill with 3/32” Drill Bit
- Double-Sided Tape
Step-by-Step Instructions:
Tow Vehicle Inputs - Determination:
- Disconnect and isolate the vehicle's negative battery terminal.
- Warning: Read and follow all warnings and instructions on the tow vehicle's battery.
- Splice the tow harness input wires to the vehicle as determined.
- Caution: Use appropriate gauge wire splices. Blue taps are for 16-18 gauge wires only.
Harness Installation:
- Determine the mounting location of the module and secure it using the double-sided tape provided.
- Warning: Mount the module with the epoxy side pointed towards the ground to prevent water buildup.
- Locate a suitable grounding point near the module, such as an existing ground stud, or drill a 3/32” hole to secure the white wire using the provided eyelet and screw.
- Caution: Verify what is behind any surface before drilling to avoid damage or personal injury.
- Route the power wire to the vehicle’s positive battery terminal. Use the provided fuse holder, butt connector, and ring terminal to connect to the battery.
- Do not insert the 15 amp fuse yet.
- Caution: Ensure the module is connected to a constant power source and avoid routing the wire near hot pipes, heat shields, fuel tanks, or pinch points.
Completion:
- Secure the harness with cable ties provided to prevent damage or rattling.
- Reconnect the vehicle's negative battery cable.
- Insert the 15 amp fuse into the fuse holder and close the cap.
- Test the installation using a test light or trailer. Check each function independently and in combination.
