Installation Instructions for Chevrolet Equinox, Pontiac Torrent, Saturn Vue, and GMC Terrain

Step-by-Step Instructions:

Remove Tie-Down Brackets:
- If present, remove the tie-down brackets from the vehicle frame rail.
- Return bolts and tie-down brackets to the vehicle owner.

Remove Fascia Door (Equinox Only):
- Remove the fascia door.
-
Position the Hitch:
- Raise the hitch into position, lifting the bumper mounting bracket over the fascia where needed.
- Secure the hitch using M12 bolts and conical washers into the existing weld nuts.

Saturn Vue Specific Step:
- Pull the 1/2"-13 carriage bolts and small blocks through the end of the bumper using the pull wire.
- Feed the bolts through the bumper mounting bracket and secure with conical washers and hex nuts, as shown in Figure 1.

Equinox and Torrent Specific Step:
- Install M12 bolts and conical washers through the bumper mounting bracket into the existing weld nuts in the bumper, as shown in Figure 2.

Tighten Fasteners:
- Tighten all 1/2"-13 GR5 fasteners to 75 ft-lb (102 N*m).
- Tighten all M12 CL8.8 fasteners to 68 ft-lb (92 N*m).

Reinstall Fascia Door (Equinox Only):
- Replace the fascia door.

Step-by-Step Instructions:

Installation Instructions for T-Connector Adapter for Saturn Vue

Step-by-Step Instructions:

Open the rear liftgate.
- On both the driver’s and passenger’s sides of the vehicle, remove two Torx-15 screws. Carefully pull the taillight away from the vehicle, ensuring alignment pins are not damaged.
-
Locate the vehicle's taillight wiring harness on both sides of the vehicle.
- The harness will have a connection point matching the ends of the T-Connector. Separate the connectors carefully, ensuring the locking tabs are not broken. Clean the connector surfaces if needed.
-
On both sides, in the taillight pocket, remove two 10mm nuts.
- Carefully pull the quarter panel slightly away from the vehicle to create clearance for the T-Connector housings and black box.

Partially remove the rear wheel wells and mud guards. For ease of installation, you may remove the tires and fully remove the wheel wells and mud guards.
-
From the driver’s side taillight pocket, route the T-Connector end with the green wire and the 4-flat connector through the opening exposed in the previous step.
- Use a fish wire for ease of routing between the taillight pocket and wheel well.
-
Underneath the vehicle, locate the T-Connector end with the green wire and 4-flat connector. Route both rearward to the backside of the bumper fascia.

Route the 4-flat connector harness to the center of the vehicle.
- Route the T-Connector end with the green wire along the backside of the bumper fascia to the passenger side taillight pocket. Temporarily disconnect the bumper fascia brackets for easier installation.

Ensure the wire routing avoids any hot pipes, heat shields, the fuel tank, or any areas that might pinch or break the wire.

Mount the 4-flat connector in a suitable location under the vehicle.
-
Locate a suitable grounding point near the adapter, such as the vehicle frame or crossmember.
- Clean the area of dirt and rustproofing. Drill a 3/32" hole and secure the white wire using the provided eyelet and screw.
-
Clean a flat area behind the driver’s side taillight assembly using a mixture of rubbing alcohol and water.
- Mount the T-Connector black box using the provided double-sided tape.
-
Reinstall the quarter panel moved in step 3 and replace the 10mm nuts.

Plug the T-Connector end with the yellow wire into the driver’s side taillight socket and the vehicle wiring harness.
- Repeat on the passenger’s side using the T-Connector with the green wire. Ensure all connectors are fully inserted with locking tabs in place.

Secure all loose wires with the provided cable ties.

Reinstall the wheel wells, mud guards, taillights, and other items removed during installation. Ensure wires are not pinched or cut during reassembly.
Specifications:
- Max. stop/turn light: 1 per side (2.1 amps).
- Max. tail lights: (4.2 amps).

- Use a fish wire to simplify routing through the taillight pocket and wheel well.

Underneath the Vehicle:
- Locate the green wire and 4-flat connector and route them to the rear of the bumper fascia.
- Route the green wire along the backside of the fascia to the passenger-side taillight pocket. Temporarily disconnect bumper fascia brackets if needed.

Position the 4-Flat Connector:
- Route the 4-flat connector harness to the center of the vehicle for convenient access.
- Secure it with cable ties to avoid interference with moving or hot parts.

Ground the White Wire:
- Identify a suitable grounding point, such as the frame or crossmember.
- Clean the area, drill a 3/32" hole, and attach the white wire using the provided eyelet and screw.

Mount the Black Box:
- Clean a flat surface behind the driver’s side taillight with rubbing alcohol and water.
- Use the provided double-sided tape to mount the T-Connector black box.

Reinstall Quarter Panel and Nuts:
- Reattach the quarter panel and tighten the 10mm nuts removed earlier.

Connect the T-Connector:
- Plug the yellow wire into the driver’s side taillight socket and the vehicle’s wiring harness.
- Repeat this process on the passenger side with the green wire.

Secure Loose Wiring:
- Use the provided cable ties to secure all loose wires.
- Ensure the wiring is routed away from sharp edges, hot pipes, and moving parts.

Reinstall Components:
- Replace the wheel wells, mud guards, taillights, and other items removed during installation.
- Verify that no wires are pinched or cut during reassembly.

Test the Installation:
- Test the T-Connector installation with a test light or trailer to confirm proper functionality.
