- Trim Panel Remover
Step-by-Step Instructions:
Step 1: Remove the Trim Panel
- Carefully remove the vehicle’s trim panel located underneath the dashboard.
- CAUTION: Avoid pulling on the courtesy lamp wires that are attached.
Step 2: Locate the Brake Control Harness Connector
- Find the electric brake control harness connector under the dashboard:
- It is located left of the steering column and near the emergency brake pedal.
- The connector will be a 6-pin connector that matches the brake control adapter.
Step 3: Plug in the Adapter
- Plug the brake control adapter into the vehicle’s electric brake control harness connector.
- Ensure the adapter is securely connected to the harness.
Step 4: Complete the Installation
- Follow the brake control manufacturer’s instructions to:
- Complete the wiring connections.
- Mount the brake controller securely in the desired location.
- Perform all test procedures as instructed by the brake controller manufacturer to confirm proper operation.
Notes:
- Vehicles that do not have an OEM trailer tow package may require additional fuses or relays to complete the:
- Output circuit
- Battery feed circuit
