Installation Instructions for 12,000 lb. Square Tube Jack
General Installation Notes:
- Ensure installation follows these instructions without any alterations or modifications to the product.
- Do not position any body parts under the product or load being supported.
- Fully retract and/or rotate the jack before towing.
- Ensure the drop leg pin is fully inserted before using the jack.
- Keep children away from the product and the load being supported.
- Block wheels to prevent rolling when operating the jack or coupling the trailer.
- Do not exceed the maximum rated capacity. Check the product markings or decals for rated capacity.
- Avoid excessive side forces to prevent jack failure.
- Replace any bent, broken, or worn parts before use.
- Use only on flat surfaces.
- All welding must be performed by an AWS-certified welder.
Tools Required:
- Torque wrench
- Ratchet set
Step-by-Step Instructions:
Direct Mount to Load-Bearing Member:
- Welding must be performed by an AWS-certified welder.
- Place three 2-inch-long 1/4” fillet welds on both sides of the jack along the contacting surface.
- Ensure the welds are spaced as far apart as possible for maximum strength.
- For tandem applications, align jacks carefully to ensure equal load sharing.
Weld-On Pivot Tube Mounting:
- The non-beveled side of the pivot tube should be welded to the trailer tongue.
- Place the weld-on pivot tube against the tongue and weld all around using a 1/4” fillet weld.
- Align one set of pivot mount holes vertically.
- Attach the jack to the pivot tube and secure with the supplied pin.
Drop Leg Operation:
Spring Return Drop Leg:
- Verify the jack is not supporting any load.
- Place your foot on the footplate to control the return of the drop leg.
- Rotate the drop leg pin to the disengaged position.
- Move the drop leg to the desired position using your foot.
- Rotate the drop leg pin to the engaged position, ensuring it is fully seated.
Non-Spring Return Drop Leg:
- Verify the jack is not supporting any load.
- Grasp the handle of the footplate to control the drop leg as it descends.
- Rotate the drop leg pin to the disengaged position.
- Move the drop leg to the desired position.
- Rotate the drop leg pin to the engaged position, ensuring it is fully seated.
Maintenance:
- Lubricate gears, bushings, and screws annually with automotive grease.
- Apply lightweight oil to the input shaft bushings and drop leg pin assembly.
- Keep all components clean and free of debris.
Safety Notes:
- Fully retract and rotate the jack before towing.
- Keep clear of pinch points and drop leg holes during operation.
- Do not adjust the drop leg while the jack is under load.
