Step-by-Step Instructions:

Remove Tie-Down Brackets (if present):
- Detach the tie-down brackets from the vehicle frame rails.
- Return the bolts and brackets to the vehicle owner.

Raise Hitch:
- Lift the hitch into position on the frame rails.

Install Fasteners:
- Attach the hitch to the vehicle using the provided M12 hex bolts and conical washers.

Step-by-Step Instructions:

Remove Plastic Supports:
- Use a Phillips screwdriver to unscrew plastic screws while applying pressure on the opposite side. Remove both pieces of plastic from the support straps.

Trim Fascia Tab (Elantra and Rio 5 only):
- Trim the center fascia tab as shown in Figure 2. Obtain vehicle owner’s approval before cutting.

Lower Exhaust:
- Remove the rubber exhaust hanger to lower the vehicle’s exhaust system.
-
Position Hitch (Passenger Side First):
- Lift the passenger side of the hitch into position, placing the crosstube over the tailpipe. Rotate the side bracket into place on the outside of the frame rail. Gently pull the fascia out of the way to assist installation (refer to Figure 2).

Position Hitch (Driver’s Side):
- Lift the driver’s side of the hitch into position on the outside of the frame rail and in front of the bulkhead. Pull the fascia out of the way to assist installation.

Install Fasteners:
- Install the fasteners as shown in Figure 1. Hand-tighten all bolts before fully securing.

Align and Tighten Hitch:
- Push the hitch toward the rear of the vehicle to align it properly. Tighten all fasteners to the specified torque settings:
- M10 CL8.8 bolts: 42 Lb.-Ft. (57 N*M)
- M12 CL8.8 bolts: 76 Lb.-Ft. (103 N*M)
- Push the hitch toward the rear of the vehicle to align it properly. Tighten all fasteners to the specified torque settings:

Reattach Exhaust:
- Secure the rubber muffler hanger back into place.

Reattach Fascia Tabs:
- Replace any removed fascia tabs.

Installation Instructions for T-Connector Adapter for Scion xB

Step-by-Step Instructions:

Prepare the Rear Cargo Area:
- Open the rear hatch.
- Temporarily remove the rear threshold plate, storage covers, and floor covering.
- Partially remove the rear interior trim panels on both the driver and passenger sides. Several fasteners may need to be removed. Set aside all parts carefully.

Locate the Taillight Wiring Harness:
- On both sides, locate the vehicle’s taillight wiring harness.
- Disconnect the connectors, ensuring not to break the locking tabs. Ensure all connector surfaces are clean and free of dirt.

Install the Driver-Side T-Connector:
- On the driver’s side, insert the T-Connector end with the yellow wire between the vehicle’s wiring connectors. Lock it into place, ensuring the connectors are fully inserted with locking tabs secure.

Route the Passenger-Side T-Connector:
- Route the T-Connector end with the green wire behind the panels and along the threshold to the passenger side.
- Repeat step 3 for the passenger side, using the T-Connector end with the green wire.

Ground the White Wire:
- Locate a suitable grounding point near the connector, such as the vehicle’s frame or cross member.
- Clean the grounding area, drill a 3/32” hole, and secure the white wire using the provided eyelet and screw.
Caution:
- Verify what is behind any surface before drilling to avoid damage or injury. Do not drill into exposed surfaces.

Connect the Power Wire:
- Inside the vehicle, connect the black 12-gauge wire to the red wire from the T-Connector black box using the provided yellow butt connector.
- Route the black wire through a grommet or along the vehicle’s existing wiring to the engine compartment, avoiding areas that may pinch or damage the wire.

Connect to the Vehicle Battery:
- Disconnect the vehicle’s negative (-) battery cable.
- Remove the fuse from the yellow fuse holder.
- Attach the ring terminal of the fuse holder to the positive (+) battery cable.
- Connect the other end of the fuse holder to the black 12-gauge wire using the yellow butt connector.
- Reconnect the negative (-) battery cable and insert the 10-amp fuse into the fuse holder.

Mount the Black Box:
- Locate a flat surface on the driver’s side and mount the T-Connector’s black box using the provided double-sided tape.
- Secure the remaining T-Connector harness with cable ties, avoiding areas that may pinch or cut the wire.

Reassemble the Vehicle:
- Reinstall all plastic trim panels, thresholds, storage covers, and floor coverings removed during installation. Ensure no wires are pinched or cut during reassembly.

Test the Installation:
- Test and verify the installation with a test light or trailer.
- For the initial test, reset the vehicle’s electrical system by temporarily removing the key from the ignition.
Specifications:
- Max. stop/turn light: 1 per side (2.1 amps)
