Step-by-Step Instructions:
1. Remove Taillights:
- Open the tailgate and remove plastic covers near the taillights using a flat head screwdriver.
- X3 Models (2011-2017): Remove hex nuts securing the taillights.
- X3 Models (2018+): Remove bolts behind the interior cargo panel.
- X4 Models: Remove additional screws and grommets to disconnect the taillights.
2. Remove Underbody Panel:
- Use 8 mm and 10 mm sockets to remove screws and hex nuts from the underbody panel. Set the panel aside.
3. Remove Fascia:
- Remove screws beneath the taillights and along the bottom edge of the fascia.
- Drill out plastic rivets securing the wheel well trim and remove screws hidden behind it.
- Carefully remove the fascia using trim tools, and disconnect the wiring harness before setting it aside.
4. Remove Bumper Beam:
- Detach sensor wiring and exhaust hanger brackets using a 13 mm socket.
- Use an 18 mm socket with a 6" extension to remove hex flange nuts securing the bumper beam.
5. Install Hitch and Bumper Beam:
- Apply blue thread locker to all studs.
- Ensure foam gaskets are intact; apply silicone sealant if necessary.
- Align the hitch and bumper beam, securing them with existing M12 hex flange nuts.
- Torque all M12 fasteners to 68 lb-ft (92 N·m).
- Reattach exhaust hangers and torque hex nuts to 25 lb-ft (34 N·m).
6. Trim and Reinstall Fascia:
- Trim the fascia per the guidelines provided in the installation manual using a utility knife and marker.
- Reinstall the fascia, wheel well trim, and taillights.

Step-by-Step Instructions:

Prepare the Vehicle:
- Open the rear hatch. Remove the cargo floor covering, side cargo panels, and any felt liners to expose the vehicle’s taillight wiring harness.
- Temporarily remove the plastic threshold cover and cargo trays using a trim panel remover or Phillips screwdriver.

Locate the Vehicle’s Taillight Wiring Harness:
- On both the driver and passenger sides, locate the vehicle’s taillight wiring harness connectors.
- Disconnect the connectors carefully, ensuring not to damage the locking tabs. Ensure all connector surfaces are clean and free of dirt.

Connect the Driver-Side T-Connector:
- Insert the T-One® Connector end containing the yellow wire between the vehicle wiring connectors and the taillight socket on the driver’s side.

Mount the Black Box:
- On the driver’s side, determine a suitable mounting point for the black box.
- Clean the mounting surface with a 50-50 mixture of rubbing alcohol and water, then secure the black box using the provided double-sided tape. Ensure the epoxy side faces downward to prevent water accumulation.

Ground the White Wire:
- Locate a suitable grounding point near the black box, such as an existing ground stud.
- Clean the area of dirt and rustproofing. Drill a 3/32” hole and secure the white wire using the provided eyelet and screw.
Caution: Verify what is behind the surface before drilling to prevent damage or injury.

Route the Passenger-Side T-Connector:
- Route the green wire connector across the threshold to the passenger side.
- Insert the green wire connector between the passenger-side taillight socket and the vehicle wiring harness.

Connect the Power Wire:
- Disconnect the vehicle’s Negative (-) battery cable.
- Cut the fuse holder wire and attach the provided ring terminal. Secure it to the vehicle’s Positive (+) battery cable.
- Connect the other end of the fuse holder to the black 12-gauge wire from the T-One® Connector black box using the provided yellow heat-shrink butt connector.

Route the Power Wire:
- Starting from the engine compartment, route the black power wire along the vehicle’s frame to the rear, avoiding hot pipes, heat shields, and other hazards.

Reconnect the Battery and Test:
- Reconnect the Negative (-) battery cable and install the 15-amp fuse into the fuse holder.
- Test the installation using a test light or trailer. Reset the vehicle’s electrical system by temporarily removing the key from the ignition.

Reassemble the Vehicle:
- Reinstall the cargo panels, threshold cover, and other components removed during installation.
- Ensure no wires are pinched or damaged.

Store the 4-Flat Connector:
- Route the 4-flat connector through the side panel and threshold into the storage compartment.
- Store the 4-flat connector in the cargo area when not in use.
