Installation Instructions for CLEVIS/BALL MOUNT 80410 ## Part Number - 80410 --- ## Ratings ### With Ball: - Maximum Gross Trailer Weight: 6,000 lbs - Maximum Tongue Weight: 600 lbs ### When Used as Clevis: - Maximum Gross Trailer Weight: 6,000 lbs - Maximum Tongue Weight: 600 lbs > Warning: Do not exceed the gross trailer weight and tongue weight ratings of your tow vehicle, receiver, and ball. Refer to manufacturer warnings. --- ## Tools Required - Torque wrench - Crowfoot wrench attachment (for ball installation) --- ## Installation and Operation ### General Installation: 1. Secure the clevis/ball mount to the receiver with a 5/8-inch diameter pin. 2. Secure the pin with a clip or locking device. ### Ball Installation: 1. Use a ball with a 1-inch diameter threaded shank only. 2. Follow the ball manufacturer's instructions and warnings. 3. Use a torque wrench to tighten the nut to the specified torque. 4. If necessary, use a "crowfoot" wrench attachment to reach the nut with the torque wrench. ### Clevis Operation: 1. Use only a 1-inch diameter pin with a positive retaining device. 2. Ensure the pin extends through both clevis members. 3. Install the pin from the top. 4. Pins (#5764) and clips (#55515) are available for purchase separately. --- ## Safety Notes ### Warnings for Clevis Operation: - Never tow without a positive retaining device on the clevis pin. Loss of the pin can result in trailer separation. - Ensure the pin does not extend excessively below the clevis to prevent damage or loss caused by ground strikes. - Check ground clearance with a loaded trailer and tow vehicle to avoid damage. - The trailer drawbar or eye must not contact the shank tube or welds with the pin installed, as contact could cause damage leading to trailer separation. - Do not use a long shank ball as a clevis pin.
