For our electrical we rely on Tekonsha. Our Trailer wiring kit comes with a 1 year warranty and everything necessary to install the trailer plug wiring. Tekonsha manufactures a wider range of different products for hooking up trailer lights to your Car Truck or SUV. Our connectors work great with boat trailer wiring and utility trailer wiring. Typically those trailers will use the standard 4 flat plug which is what our Wiring Kits offer. If you have an RV Fifth Wheel or any other large type of trailer you will us a 7 pin trailer plug to control your electric trailer brakes. Tekonsha offers 7 pin trailer connector as well. Simply do a search above to see if there is a 7 wire trailer wiring available for hooking up your 7 way. If there is not you can use part number 85343 trailer wiring adapter to convert any 4-Flat into a 7-Way. In addition you will use part number 20506 which will include the rest of wiring needed for electric brake controls. - Raise the hitch into position, aligning it with the existing weldnuts in the vehicle frame.

Install Fasteners:
- Secure the hitch using four (4) M10 x 1.25 x 30mm hex bolts and four (4) 7/16” conical toothed washers.

Tighten Fasteners:
- Use a torque wrench to tighten all M10 x 1.25 CL10.9 fasteners to 59 lb-ft (80 N·m).

Installation Instructions for T-Connector Adapter for Kia Sorento

- 10mm Socket & Ratchet or 10mm Wrench
- Drill (3/32” Drill Bit)
- 1/4” Socket
- Wire Crimpers
- Wire Cutters
- Phillips Head Screwdriver

Step-by-Step Instructions:

Remove the Taillight Assemblies:
- Open the rear tailgate to access the bolts securing the taillights.
- Using a Phillips head screwdriver, remove the taillights on both the driver and passenger sides. Carefully pull the taillights away from the vehicle to avoid damaging alignment pins.

Disconnect the Wiring Harness:
- On the driver’s side, disconnect the vehicle wiring harness from the taillight socket.
- Ensure the connector surfaces are clean and free of dirt.
-
Install the Module Bracket:
- On the driver’s side, remove the plastic push pin closest to the tailgate weather strip and discard it.
- Pull the fascia back and route the module under the interior fascia support. Rotate the module to fit between the fascia and body.
- Mount the tow harness bracket using the M6 bolt provided in the kit. Ensure the epoxy side of the module is pointed toward the ground to prevent water buildup.

Connect the Driver-Side T-Connector:
- Insert the T-Connector end with the yellow wire between the vehicle wiring connectors on the driver’s side.

Route the Wiring:
- Route the 4-flat connector and harness containing the green and red wires down the interior side of the bumper brace.
- Route the wiring underneath the vehicle, behind the bumper fascia, and up through the opening behind the passenger-side taillight.
Warning:
- Avoid routing wires near hot pipes, heat shields, or any areas that may pinch or damage the wiring.

Install the Passenger-Side T-Connector:
- Repeat steps 2 and 3 for the passenger side, connecting the green wire.

Ground the White Wire:
- Locate a suitable grounding point near the connectors. Drill a 3/32” hole and secure the white wire with the provided eyelet and screw.
Caution:
- Verify what is behind any surface before drilling to prevent damage or injury. Avoid drilling into exposed surfaces.

Connect the Power Wire:
- Attach the black 12-gauge wire to the red power wire from the T-Connector box. Route the wire along the vehicle frame or thresholds to the engine compartment, avoiding pinching or damaging the wire.

Connect to the Vehicle Battery:
- Disconnect the negative battery cable.
- Attach the ring terminal to the positive battery cable and connect the yellow fuse holder to the black wire using the butt connector provided.
- Reconnect the negative battery cable and install the 10-amp fuse.

Test the Installation:
- Test the T-Connector installation using a test light or trailer.
- Reset the vehicle’s electrical system by temporarily removing the key from the ignition.

Secure the Wiring:
- Secure all remaining wires with cable ties, avoiding areas that may pinch, cut, or melt the wires.
