Installation Instructions for BMW X1

- Screwdriver or Trim Tool
- Small Punch
- Wrenches: 8mm, 10mm, 18mm, (2) 3/4"

Step-by-Step Instructions:

Remove Lower Fascia Trim:
- Detach the (5) fasteners and (2) plastic rivets securing the bottom fascia to the vehicle.
- Punch out the rivet center with a small punch or blunt nail. Use a screwdriver or trim tool to loosen and remove the rivet heads.
- Gradually pull up the fascia trim from the outer edges.

Loosen Appearance Panels:
- If needed, loosen or remove the (2) rear underbody panels for additional clearance.

Remove Muffler Hanger:
- Use a 10mm socket to detach the inside muffler hanger.

Detach Bumper Flange Nuts:
- Remove the (4) flange nuts from the bumper (see Figure 2).

Prepare Hitch Installation:
- Place (4) flat washers onto each bumper stud as shown in Figure 3.

Position Hitch:
- Lift the hitch into place, first on the driver’s side, moving over the exhaust while avoiding the ECV valve (if present).
- Swing the hitch into position and reinstall the existing M12 flange nuts.

Attach Center Mounting Strap:
- Remove the bolt from the suspension support frame. Slide the center mounting strap between the frame and the existing plate.
- Reinstall the M12 bolt (refer to Figure 4).

Secure Center Support Bar:
- Attach the center support bar to the hitch as shown in Figure 4.

Reattach Muffler Hanger:
- Reinstall the exhaust hanger bolt.

Reinstall Appearance Panels:
- Replace the underbody panels and tighten all fasteners to the specified torque.

Reattach Fascia Trim:
- Secure the lower fascia trim using the provided plastic rivets.

- Do not cut access or attachment holes with a torch.
