Step-by-Step Instructions:

1. Remove Fascia:

• Open the liftgate.
• Use a plastic pry tool to remove the plastic rivet near the taillight area on each side.
• Use a flat head screwdriver to remove the screw securing the taillight. Pull the taillight rearward and unplug the electrical connector. Remove the taillights.
• Remove the plastic push rivets and screws holding the fascia near the liftgate opening and underbody.
• Remove the hitch access panel and screws from the fascia.
• Loosen the screws from the wheel well trim, and remove screws inside the wheel well to detach the trim. Pull back the liner and remove additional screws.
• Gently pull the fascia away from the vehicle, unplugging electrical connectors near the driver-side wheel well.

2. Remove Plastic Panel:

• Remove (7) nuts securing the panel using a 10mm socket. Unplug the sensor in the middle of the panel and set it aside.

3. Lower Exhaust:

• Support the exhaust to prevent damage and remove the rubber isolators from the exhaust hangers (3 on each side).

4. Lower Heat Shield:

• Use a 10mm socket to remove bolts on the passenger-side heat shield, exposing the M14 bolts in the frame rail.

5. Remove Bumper Beam:

• Use a 21mm socket to remove (8) bolts from the bumper beam. Save the bolts for hitch installation. Remove the bumper beam.

6. Install Hitch:

• Raise the hitch into position and align it with the vehicle’s weld nuts. Loosely reinstall the (8) M14 bolts removed earlier.

7. Tighten Fasteners:

• Use a torque wrench to tighten all M14 fasteners to 115 lb-ft (156 N·m).

8. Reinstall Components:

• Reverse the steps to reinstall the heat shield, exhaust, plastic panel, fascia, and taillights. Ensure all electrical connectors are plugged back in.

Step-by-Step Instructions:

1. Prepare the Vehicle:

   • Open the tailgate and remove the vehicle’s taillight assemblies.
   • Remove all floor coverings to access the battery in the cargo area.
   • Inside the vehicle behind the taillights, remove the plastic cover and pull back the insulation liner to access the plastic wing nut holding the taillight in place.
   • Disconnect the connectors and carefully set the taillight housings aside.
   • Repeat this step for the passenger-side taillight assembly.

2. Remove the Bumper Fascia:

   • Using a 10mm socket and Phillips screwdriver, remove 3 screws and 4 plastic screws from the bottom appearance panel and set them aside.
   • Use a screwdriver to remove 2 screws from the wheel well on each side.
   • Behind the wheel wells, use a T20 Torx socket to remove 2 screws and a screwdriver to remove 4 screws on each side.
   • Use plastic trim tools to remove the fascia, starting at the outer edges near the wheel wells and gently pulling it free.
   • Disconnect the wiring harness on the driver’s side if present.

3. Route the Driver-Side T-Connector:

   • Route the T-Connector end with the yellow and brown wires behind the fascia supports, following the existing wire harness to the taillight pocket.
   • Insert the T-Connector end with the yellow wire between the vehicle wiring connectors and lock it into place.

4. Mount the Black Box Module:

   • Locate a flat surface above the exhaust system on the driver’s side, avoiding hot pipes and heat shields.
   • Mount the T-Connector’s black converter box using the provided double-sided tape or wire ties.
   • Warning: Ensure the epoxy side of the module is pointed downward to prevent water buildup.

5. Ground the White Wire:

   • Locate a suitable grounding point near the connector, such as an existing ground stud, or drill a 3/32” hole.
   • Secure the white wire using the provided eyelet and screw. Clean dirt and rustproofing from the area before securing.

   Caution: Verify what is behind the surface before drilling to avoid damage or injury.

6. Route the Passenger-Side T-Connector:

   • Route the T-Connector end with the green wire to the passenger side and up behind the fascia bumper supports to the taillight pocket.
   • Insert the T-Connector end with the green wire between the vehicle wiring connectors and lock it into place.

7. Route the Power Wire:

   • Locate the black 12-gauge power wire from the T-Connector box.
   • Slit the grommet on the driver’s side and route the power wire through it.
   • Attach the provided black 12-gauge wire and route it along the threshold, following existing wiring to the battery’s positive terminal (+).

   Warning: Avoid routing near hot pipes, heat shields, or the fuel tank.

8. Connect to the Vehicle Battery:

   • Disconnect the vehicle’s Negative (-) battery cable.
   • Remove the fuse from the yellow fuse holder.
   • Attach the ring terminal to the battery’s Positive (+) terminal.
   • Connect the other end of the fuse holder to the black 12-gauge wire using the provided yellow butt connector.

9. Reconnect the Battery and Test:

   • Reconnect the vehicle’s Negative (-) battery cable.
   • Install the 15-amp fuse into the fuse holder.
   • Test the installation using a test light or trailer.

10. Reassemble the Vehicle:

    • Reinstall the taillight assemblies, plastic trim panels, threshold, storage covers, floor coverings, and other removed components, ensuring no wires are pinched or damaged.

11. Secure the Wiring Harness:

    • Use the provided cable ties to secure the harness, avoiding areas that may pinch, cut, or melt the wires.

12. Mount the 4-Flat Connector:

    • Mount the 4-flat connector end in an accessible location using a bracket or electrical box (not included).
