Installation Time:

Step-by-Step Instructions:

1. Lower Muffler:

   • Use exhaust removal pliers to remove the (4) rubber hangers from the exhaust:
     • (2) on the left side, (1) on the right side, and (1) in the middle of the car.
   • Apply lubricant or soapy water to ease removal.
   • Ensure the exhaust is supported before removing the hangers.

2. Remove Rubber Plugs:

   • Use a flat head screwdriver to remove (2) rubber plugs (rear and forward) from the holes at the bottom of the frame on each side of the car.
   • Return the plugs to the customer.
   • Use a utility knife to remove excess caulk near the access hole and reseal if the seam is exposed.

3. Install Fasteners:

   • Feed the coiled end of the pull wire through the rear attachment hole and out of the forward-most access hole in the frame.
   • Attach the 7/16" carriage bolt and spacer to the pull wire and pull them into position on both sides.
   • Use the reverse fishwire technique as shown in the manual.

4. Install Block:

   • Tape the supplied block (part no. 01097002) between the hitch and the frame at the access hole.

5. Install Hitch:

   • Raise the hitch into position, being careful not to push the fasteners back into the frame.
   • Loosely install the conical washers (teeth side facing the hitch) and hex nuts onto the carriage bolts (4 locations).

6. Tighten Fasteners:

   • Use a torque wrench to tighten all 7/16"-14 GR5 fasteners to 50 lb-ft (68 N*m).
   • Note: A universal joint socket may be required for the rear bolts.

7. Reattach Muffler:

   • Raise the muffler back into position and reattach the rubber hangers (2 per side and 1 in the middle).

Torque Specifications:

• 7/16"-14 GR5 bolts: 50 lb-ft (68 N*m)

• 10mm Socket & Ratchet or 10mm Wrench
• Drill (3/32” Drill Bit)
• Wire Crimpers
• Wire Cutters
• Phillips Head Screwdriver

Step-by-Step Instructions:

1. Remove the Taillight Assemblies:

   • Open the tailgate and remove the vehicle’s taillight assemblies.
   • Carefully pull the taillights away from the vehicle, ensuring not to damage the alignment pins. Set aside.

2. Route the T-Connector Harness:

   • Route the harness containing the yellow wire underneath the vehicle and up through the opening between the vehicle bumper and body to the driver’s side taillight pocket.

3. Mount the Black Box Module:

   • On the driver’s side, locate a flat, out-of-the-way surface and mount the T-Connector’s black converter box using the provided double-sided tape.

4. Ground the White Wire:

   • Locate a suitable grounding point near the connector, such as an existing ground stud, or drill a 3/32” hole.
   • Secure the white wire using the provided eyelet and screw. Clean the area of dirt and rustproofing before securing.

   Caution: Verify what is behind the surface before drilling to prevent damage or injury.

5. Connect the Driver-Side T-Connector:

   • Separate the vehicle’s wiring connectors, being careful not to break the locking tabs.
   • Insert the T-Connector end with the yellow and brown wires between the vehicle wiring connectors and lock into place. Ensure all connectors are clean and secure.

   Warning: Ensure the module is mounted so the epoxy side faces downward to prevent water accumulation.

6. Route the Passenger-Side T-Connector:

   • Route the T-Connector end with the green wire through the opening on the passenger side, avoiding hot pipes, heat shields, fuel tank, or other points that may pinch or break the wire.

7. Connect the Passenger-Side T-Connector:

   • Repeat Step 5 on the passenger side using the T-Connector end containing the green wire.

8. Connect the Power Wire:

   • On the driver’s side, locate the black 12-gauge power wire from the T-Connector box.
   • Attach the provided black wire and route it along the exterior frame or existing wiring to the engine compartment, avoiding areas that may pinch or break the wire.

   Warning: Avoid routing the wire near hot pipes, heat shields, or fuel tank.

9. Connect to the Vehicle Battery:

   • Disconnect the vehicle’s Negative (-) battery cable.
   • Remove the fuse from the yellow fuse holder and attach the ring terminal to the Positive (+) battery cable.
   • Connect the other end of the fuse holder to the black 12-gauge wire using the provided yellow butt connector.

   Warning: Follow all warnings and cautions on the tow vehicle’s battery.

10. Secure the Wiring Harness:

    • Use the provided cable ties to secure the remainder of the T-Connector harness, avoiding areas that may pinch, cut, or melt the wire.

11. Reconnect the Battery and Test:

    • Reconnect the Negative (-) battery cable and install the 15-amp fuse into the fuse holder.
    • Test the installation with a test light or trailer. Reset the vehicle’s electrical system by temporarily removing the key from the ignition.

12. Reassemble the Vehicle:

    • Reinstall the plastic trim panels, threshold, storage covers, floor covering, and any other items removed during installation, ensuring no wires are pinched or damaged.

13. Attach the Flat-4 Mounting Bracket:

    • Attach the flat-4 mounting bracket to the trailer hitch using the provided screws and nuts.
