Installation Instructions for Chevrolet/GMC Full-Size Pickups (All Models)

• Wrenches: 7/8", 13mm, 19mm, 21mm

Step-by-Step Instructions:

1. Lower Vehicle Spare Tire (if present):

   • Remove the vehicle's spare tire to provide clearance for hitch installation.

2. Remove Factory Bumper Brackets:

   • Remove bumper brackets and ground wire bolt from the driver’s side frame bracket, if applicable.
   • Retain these for reinstallation.

3. Position Hitch:

   • Position the hitch on the vehicle frame.
   • On 8' bed models, use the hitch as a template to drill forward attachment holes.

4. Install Fasteners:

   • Secure the hitch using the provided hardware:
     • 1/2"-13 x 1-3/4" GR5 carriage bolts.
     • 1/4" x 1-1/2" x 2" blocks (3719, 1540).
     • Lock washers and hex nuts.
   • Ensure the fasteners are oriented as shown in Figures 1 and 2.

5. Drill Forward Holes:

   • Drill forward attachment holes through the frame using the hitch as a guide (on 8' bed models).

6. Reinstall Bumper Brackets:

   • Reinstall the factory bumper brackets and ground wire bolt removed earlier.

7. Torque Fasteners:

   • Tighten all 1/2"-13 GR5 fasteners to 75 lb-ft.
   • Tighten M12 x 1.75 CL10.9 bolts to 75 lb-ft.

8. Check Clearance:

   • Ensure there is clearance between the brake lines, axle tailpipe, and stowed spare tire.
   • Relocate spare tire if necessary for proper clearance.

9. Raise Spare Tire:

   • Reinstall the spare tire and confirm it is securely stowed.

Torque Specifications:

• 1/2"-13 GR5 bolts: 75 lb-ft
• M12 x 1.75 CL10.9 bolts: 75 lb-ft

• Frequently check the hitch to ensure all fasteners and the ball are securely tightened.
• If the hitch is removed, plug all holes in the trunk pan or other body panels to prevent water or exhaust fumes from entering.
• Replace any damaged hitch or ball immediately.

• Do not cut access or attachment holes with a torch.
