Installation Instructions for Toyota 4Runner (Pre-2003 Models)

Step-by-Step Instructions:
- Remove two hooks from the vehicle frame and return them to the owner for reinstallation of the hitch after removing the tow hook.
- Raise the hitch into position and align side brackets with existing M12 bolt holes. Install M12 bolts into frame rails. Reinstall existing bolts that were removed in Step 1.
- Forward Attachment:
- Insert a 1/2" x 1-1/2" x 2" block (1097-002) from the end of the frame. Install the hex bolt and conical tooth washer with handle nut (1333) as shown above.
- Tighten all M12 fasteners to 58 lb-ft.
- Tighten all 1/2" hex bolts to 50 lb-ft.

Step-by-Step Instructions:

Remove Existing Hooks
- Remove two hooks from the vehicle frame and set them aside for reinstallation.
- Ensure the tow hook is removed to allow proper hitch installation.

Position the Hitch
- Raise the hitch into position, aligning the side brackets with the existing M12 bolt holes on the frame rails.
- Install the M12 bolts into the frame rails and reinstall the existing bolts removed in Step 1.

Install Forward Attachment
- Insert a 1/2" x 1-1/2" x 2" block into the end of the frame.
- Install the 1/2" hex bolt, conical tooth washer, and handle nut as per the provided diagram.

Tighten Fasteners
- Torque all M12 fasteners to 58 lb-ft.
- Torque all 1/2" hex bolts to 50 lb-ft.
