Installation Instructions for 2019-2021 Lexus UX250h

Step-by-Step Instructions:
-
Remove Plastic Panels:
- Use a flat head screwdriver to remove 5 plastic rivets from the driver side and 7 rivets from the passenger side.
- Save 2 rivets for reinstallation and return the remaining rivets and panels to the vehicle owner.
- Firmly pull the panels down to release them from the studs.

Lower Carbon Canister Tube:
- Remove plastic covers from the access hole on the passenger side.
- Using a flat head screwdriver, detach the carbon canister tube from the access hole on the driver side.

Remove Caulking:
- Using a utility knife, remove caulking around the holes in the hitch area.
-
Enlarge Access Hole:
- Using a die grinder, enlarge the access holes to a slot size of 1.125” x 1.00” on both sides of the vehicle.
- Temporarily lower the muffler on the passenger side to enlarge the access hole. Support the exhaust before removing the rubber hangers.

Reinstall Fascia Flap:
- Use the 2 rivets removed in Step 1 to reinstall the fascia flap.

Install Hitch:
- Using pull wires, feed carriage bolts and spacers through the access holes.
- Raise the muffler back to its original position.
- Raise the hitch into position and feed the pull wires through the hitch bracket slot.
- Remove pull wires and loosely install conical washers (teeth side toward the hitch) and hex nuts.

Tighten Fasteners:
- Using a torque wrench, tighten all 1/2”-13 fasteners to 75 ft-lbs (102 N*m).

Secure Carbon Canister Tube:
- Using the provided cable tie, secure the carbon canister tube to the hitch bracket hole.

- (4) Carriage Bolt 1/2”-13 x 2.00” GR5
- (4) Spacer 0.250” x 1.00” x 3.00”
- (4) Conical Washer 1/2”

Step-by-Step Instructions:

Open the Rear Hatch:
- Temporarily remove the floor covering and set it aside.
- Remove the clips holding the threshold in place and carefully pry it up.
- Open the side door and fold the rear seats forward to access the vehicle's wiring.

Locate the Taillight Wiring Harness:
- On both the driver and passenger sides, locate the vehicle’s taillight wiring harness near the floor and rear corners of the vehicle.
- Separate the connectors carefully, ensuring not to break the locking tabs.
- Ensure all connector surfaces are clean and free of dirt.

Connect the Passenger-Side T-Connector:
- Starting on the passenger side, insert the T-One® T-Connector end with the green wire between the vehicle’s wiring connectors and lock it into place.
- Ensure the connectors are fully inserted with the locking tabs in place.

Route the Driver-Side T-Connector:
- Route the T-One® T-Connector end with the yellow wire down the threshold to the driver’s side of the vehicle.
- Insert the yellow wire connector between the driver-side taillight socket and the vehicle wiring harness.

Ground the White Wire:
- Locate a suitable grounding point near the T-One® T-Connector black box, such as the vehicle’s frame or crossmember.
- Clean the area of dirt and rustproofing.
- Drill a 3/32” hole and secure the white wire using the provided eyelet and screw.
Note: Alternatively, route the white wire to the vehicle’s battery (located on the passenger side) and connect it to the Negative (-) battery cable.

- On the passenger side, locate the black power wire from the T-One® T-Connector box.
- Attach the provided black 12-gauge wire and route it to the vehicle’s Positive (+) battery cable, avoiding areas that may pinch or damage the wire.
Warning: Avoid routing near sharp edges or hot components.

Connect to the Battery:
- Disconnect the Negative (-) battery cable.
- Remove the fuse from the yellow fuse holder. Attach the ring terminal to the Positive (+) battery cable and secure it.
- Connect the other end of the fuse holder to the black 12-gauge wire using the provided yellow butt connector.

Reconnect the Battery and Test:
- Reconnect the Negative (-) battery cable.
- Insert the 15-amp fuse into the fuse holder.
- Test the installation using a test light or trailer. Reset the vehicle’s electrical system by temporarily removing the key from the ignition.

Mount the Black Box:
- Locate a flat surface in an out-of-the-way place to mount the T-One® T-Connector black box using the provided double-sided tape.

Secure the Harness:
- Use the provided cable ties to secure the T-One® T-Connector harness, ensuring the wires are clear of moving parts, heat sources, or areas that could pinch, cut, or melt the wires.

Reassemble the Vehicle:
- Replace the rear threshold plate, floor covering, and any other components removed during installation.
- Fold the rear seats back to their original position.

Store the 4-Flat Connector:
- Store the 4-flat connector in the rear cargo area when not in use.
- When in use, pull the 4-flat connector through the rear door and close the door carefully, ensuring the harness is not pinched.
