For our electrical we rely on Tekonsha. Our Trailer wiring kit comes with a 1 year warranty and everything necessary to install the trailer plug wiring. Tekonsha manufactures a wider range of different products for hooking up trailer lights to your Car Truck or SUV. Our connectors work great with boat trailer wiring and utility trailer wiring. Typically those trailers will use the standard 4 flat plug which is what our Wiring Kits offer. If you have an RV Fifth Wheel or any other large type of trailer you will us a 7 pin trailer plug to control your electric trailer brakes. Tekonsha offers 7 pin trailer connector as well. Simply do a search above to see if there is a 7 wire trailer wiring available for hooking up your 7 way. If there is not you can use part number 85343 trailer wiring adapter to convert any 4-Flat into a 7-Way. In addition you will use part number 20506 which will include the rest of wiring needed for electric brake controls. Installation Instructions for Toyota Tacoma

Step-by-Step Instructions:

Clean Weldnuts (if necessary):
- Use an M12x1.25 tap to clean the weldnuts at the ends of the frame rail on both sides (see Figure 2).
-
Install Hitch:
- Insert pull wires through the bumper beam side openings and use them to feed the carriage bolts and spacers into the bumper beam (see Figures 3 and 4). Leave the pull wires attached.
- Raise the hitch into position, feeding the carriage bolts through the top plate holes (see Figure 1).
- Loosely install M12 bolts and conical washers into the frame weldnuts.
- Loosely install nuts and conical washers on the carriage bolts.

Tighten Fasteners:
- Torque all M12 fasteners to 105 lb-ft (142 N·m).
- Torque all 7/16" fasteners to 50 lb-ft (68 N·m).

Check Installation:
- Ensure all fasteners are properly tightened.
- Inspect for any interference between the hitch and other components.

Step-by-Step Instructions:

Remove the Taillights:
- Open the tailgate and remove the vehicle’s taillights.
- Carefully pry the housings away from the vehicle, ensuring not to break the alignment tabs.
-
Connect the Driver-Side T-Connector:
- Separate the vehicle’s wiring connectors carefully, ensuring not to break the locking tabs.
- Locate the 3-pin housing that matches the T-One® Connector with the yellow and brown wire and lock into place. Ensure all connector surfaces are clean and free of dirt.

Route the Harness:
- Route the harness containing the red and green wire and the 4-flat down the opening behind the driver-side taillight.
- Route the 4-flat harness to the center of the vehicle and the red and green wire to the passenger side, routing it up through the opening behind the passenger-side taillight.

Connect the Passenger-Side T-Connector:
- Separate the vehicle’s wiring connectors on the passenger side, ensuring not to break the locking tabs.
- Connect the green wire with the 3-pin flat housing to the corresponding connectors.
- Connect the T-connector end with the red wire to the mating housings.

Ground the White Wire:
- Locate the ground stud in the driver-side taillight pocket.
- Secure the T-Connector’s ring terminal with the nut provided.
- Alternatively, locate a suitable grounding point near the adapter, clean the area of dirt and rustproofing, drill a 3/32” hole, and secure the white wire using the provided eyelet and screw.
Caution: Verify what is behind the surface before drilling to avoid damage or injury.

Mount the Black Box Module:
- Locate a flat surface in an out-of-the-way place and mount the T-Connector’s black box module to prevent damage or rattling.
Warning: Ensure the epoxy side of the module is pointed downward to prevent water buildup.

Route the Power Wire:
- Beginning from the front of the vehicle, route the black 12-gauge wire rearward along the frame rail, avoiding hot pipes, heat shields, the fuel tank, or other hazardous points.

Connect the Power Wire to the Battery:
- Disconnect the vehicle’s Negative (-) battery cable.
- Remove the fuse from the yellow fuse holder. Attach the ring terminal to the Positive (+) battery cable.
- Connect the other end of the fuse holder to the black 12-gauge wire using the yellow butt connector.

Reconnect the Battery and Test:
- Reconnect the vehicle’s Negative (-) battery cable.
- Install the 15-amp fuse into the fuse holder.
- Test the installation with a test light or trailer.

Reinstall the Taillights:
