Installation Instructions for Chevrolet Bolt (2022-Present)

Step-by-Step Instructions:
1. Remove Taillight Panels:
- Open the tailgate.
- Use a plastic trim tool to remove (2) round plastic covers near the taillight on both sides.
- Use a T15 Torx driver to remove (2) screws from the panels. Remove the plastic panels.
2. Loosen Wheel Well Trim and Liner:
- Use a T15 Torx driver to remove (2) screws at the bottom of the wheel well liner on each side.
- Gently loosen the wheel well trim to access the edge of the fascia.
- Use a 7mm socket to remove (1) bolt behind the wheel well trim on each side.
3. Remove Fascia:
- Use a T15 Torx driver to remove (1) screw near the bottom tailgate on each side.
- Use a flat head screwdriver and T15 Torx driver to remove (2) rivets and (2) screws from the bottom of the fascia.
- Use plastic trim tools to carefully remove the fascia starting from the wheel wells.
- Disconnect the wiring harness (if present) on the driver side.
4. Remove Bumper Beam:
- Slide the wiring harness off the bumper beam and secure it with tape to the vehicle body.
- Use a 15mm socket to remove (2) nuts from the metal bracket on the left-hand side of the bumper beam. Remove the bracket holding the wiring harness.
- Use a 15mm socket to remove the remaining (4) nuts from the bumper beam. Remove the bumper beam.
5. Install Hitch:
- Align the bumper beam and hitch on the floor.
- Raise the hitch and bumper beam into position, aligning the holes to the studs on the end panel.
- Reinstall the metal wiring harness bracket and loosely install (6) M10 flange nuts to the bumper beam and hitch.
6. Tighten Fasteners:
- Use a torque wrench to tighten all M10x1.5 fasteners to 38 ft-lbs (52 N·m).
7. Trim Lower Fascia:
- Use a tape measure, marker, and utility knife to measure and mark the lower fascia for trimming.
- Trim an area as specified in the provided diagram.
8. Reinstall Components:
- Reverse the removal steps to reinstall all fasteners, wiring harness, fascia, wheel well trim, liners, and taillight panels.
Safety Notes:
- Regularly check the hitch to ensure all fasteners are secure.
- If the hitch is removed, plug all holes in the trunk pan or body panels to prevent water or exhaust fume entry.
- Replace any damaged hitch or ball immediately.
- Always wear safety glasses when working under the vehicle.
- Do not cut access or attachment holes with a torch.

Step-by-Step Instructions:

Open the Rear Hatch:
- Temporarily remove the rear threshold plate, privacy screen, storage covers, and floor covering.
- Open the rear door and fold the rear seats forward.

Access the Vehicle Wiring:
- On the driver’s side, use a 10mm socket or wrench to remove the cargo hooks.
- Partially pull back the interior trim panel to expose the vehicle’s wiring connectors.

Connect the Driver-Side T-Connector:
- Insert the T-One® Connector end containing the brown wire between the vehicle’s mating connectors.
- Ensure the connectors are fully inserted and securely locked.

Mount the Black Box:
- Locate a flat surface in an out-of-the-way location to mount the T-One® T-Connector’s black box using the provided double-sided tape.
- Secure the remaining harness with cable ties to prevent rattling or damage.
Caution: Verify what is behind any surface before drilling to avoid vehicle or personal damage.

Ground the White Wire:
- Locate a suitable grounding point near the black box, such as the vehicle’s frame or crossmember.
- Clean the grounding area of dirt and rustproofing.
- Drill a 3/32” hole and secure the white wire using the provided eyelet and screw.
Warning: Do not drill into the vehicle floor or exposed surfaces.

Route the T-Connectors to the Taillights:
- Route the yellow and green wires through the vehicle’s central vent and out to the rear fascia.
- Starting at the center, route the yellow wire to the driver-side taillight pocket and the green wire to the passenger side.

Connect the Passenger-Side T-Connector:
- Insert the green wire connector between the passenger-side wiring connectors.
- Lock it in place, ensuring no damage to the locking tabs.

Connect the Power Wire:
- Disconnect the vehicle’s Negative (-) battery cable.
- Remove the fuse from the provided yellow fuse holder.
- Attach the ring terminal to the Positive (+) battery cable and secure it.
- Connect the other end of the fuse holder to the black 12-gauge wire using the provided yellow butt connector.

Route the Power Wire:
- Route the black 12-gauge wire along the vehicle’s frame to the engine compartment.
- Avoid routing near hot pipes, heat shields, or any points that may pinch or damage the wire.

Connect the Power Wire to the Black Box:
- Attach the black 12-gauge wire to the power wire on the T-One® Connector black box using the provided yellow butt connector.

Reconnect the Battery and Test:
- Reconnect the Negative (-) battery cable.
- Install the 15-amp fuse into the fuse holder.
- Test the installation using a test light or trailer. Reset the vehicle’s electrical system by temporarily removing the key from the ignition.

Reassemble the Vehicle:
- Replace all plastic trim panels, cargo covers, and other components removed during installation.
- Ensure no wires are pinched or damaged.

Store the 4-Flat Connector:
- Store the 4-flat connector in the rear cargo area when not in use.
- When in use, pull the connector through the door carefully, avoiding pinching in the door latch.
