Installation Instructions for Toyota Yaris Hatchback

Wiring Access Location:

Tools Required:

• Pliers
• Small flat screwdriver
• Wrenches: 9/16” open-end, 11/16”, and two 15/16”
• Drill Bits: None

Specifications:

• Max Gross Trailer Weight: 2,000 lb. (908 kg)
• Max Tongue Weight: 200 lb. (90.8 kg)
• Note: Do not exceed the towing vehicle manufacturer’s rating.

Step-by-Step Instructions:

1. Prepare Vehicle:

   • Locate the tab at the bottom center of the trunk pan. Bend it down and out of the way.

2. Remove Plastic Rivets:

   • Remove the two (2) plastic rivets fastening the fascia tabs to the vehicle using a flat screwdriver to pry out the rivet centers. Retain rivets for reinstallation.

3. Position Hitch (Passenger Side First):

   • Raise the hitch into position on the passenger side first. Slide the hitch under the fascia tab and over the exhaust, being careful not to scratch the fascia.

4. Position Hitch (Driver Side):

   • Slide the hitch under the fascia tab on the driver's side and position it between the vehicle's tie-down brackets.

5. Attach Tie-Down Bracket Bolts:

   • Install the 5/8” bolts with flat washers to the outside of the tie-down brackets on both sides. Attach the lock washers and hex nuts but do not tighten yet.

6. Install Remaining Fasteners:

   • Install the remaining fasteners as shown in the instructions.

7. Tighten All Fasteners:

   • Torque all 5/8”-11 GR8 fasteners to 212 Lb.-Ft. (287 N*M).
   • Torque all 3/8”-16 GR8 fasteners to 45 Lb.-Ft. (61 N*M).

8. Reinstall Plastic Rivets:

   • Reinstall the plastic rivets removed in Step 2.

Hardware List:

• (2) Bolts: 5/8”-11 x 2.0” GR8
• (4) Bolts: 3/8”-16 x 1.50” GR8
• (2) Flat Washers: 5/8”
• (2) Lock Washers: 5/8”
• (4) Lock Washers: 3/8”
• (2) Hex Nuts: 5/8”-11
• (4) Hex Nuts: 3/8”-16

Safety Notes:

• Regularly inspect all fasteners and the hitch ball to ensure they are securely tightened.
• If the hitch is removed, plug all holes in the trunk pan or body panels to prevent water and exhaust fumes from entering.
• Replace any damaged hitch or ball immediately.
• Always observe safety precautions and wear eye protection when working beneath the vehicle.
• Do not cut access or attachment holes with a torch.

• Important: The drawbar must be used in the rise position only.

Step-by-Step Instructions:

1. Prepare Vehicle:

   • Torque all 5/8”-11 GR8 fasteners to 212 Lb.-Ft. (287 N*M).
   • Torque all 3/8”-16 GR8 fasteners to 45 Lb.-Ft. (61 N*M).

8. Reinstall Plastic Rivets:

   • Reinstall the plastic rivets removed in Step 2.
