Installation Instructions for 2010-Current Acura RDX

Installation Time:

• Approximately 30 minutes for professional installers.

Tools Required:

• Ratchet Torque Wrench
• Safety Glasses
• Sockets: 19mm, 3/4”
• 6” Socket Extension

Step-by-Step Instructions:

1. Install Receiver Housing:

   • Unlock the blue handle with the provided key and detach the housing from the receiver by pressing and rotating the handle clockwise until it clicks.
   • Attach the weather covers to the housing as shown.
   • Fix the housing to the hitch using M12 bolt, flat washer, and prevailing torque nut.
   • Tighten the fasteners to 92 Lb.-Ft. (125 N*M).

2. Apply Warning Labels:

   • Place the included warning card in the vehicle’s glove compartment.
   • Attach warning labels to the receiver and door jamb as indicated.

3. Raise Hitch into Position:

   • Align the slots of the receiver with the weldnuts in the frame rail.

4. Install Fasteners:

   • Secure M12 x 1.25 x 40mm bolts and conical toothed washers through the hitch into the weldnuts.
   • Insert handle nuts through the large hole in the vehicle frame rail.
   • Attach 1/2-13 x 1.75 bolts and conical toothed washers.

5. Tighten Fasteners:

   • Tighten all M12 x 1.25 CL 10.9 fasteners to 76 Lb.-Ft. (103 N*M).
   • Tighten all 1/2-13 GR 5 fasteners to 50 Lb.-Ft. (68 N*M).

Safety Notes:

• Regularly inspect and tighten all fasteners.
• Plug all holes in the vehicle’s trunk pan or body panels if the hitch is removed.
• Replace any damaged hitch or ball.
• Always wear safety glasses when installing the hitch.
• Do not cut access or attachment holes with a torch.

Installation Instructions for T-Connector Adapter for Acura RDX

Part Numbers:

Tools Required:

• 10mm Socket & Ratchet or 10mm Wrench
• Drill (3/32” Drill Bit)
• 1/4” Socket
• Test Probe

Step-by-Step Instructions:

1. Open the Rear Tailgate:

   • Locate the grey tow plug by opening the access panel inside the storage compartment.

2. Connect the T-Connector Harness:

   • Insert the T-Connector harness into the vehicle’s tow plug harness and lock it into place.
   • Ensure all connector surfaces are clean and free of dirt. Be careful not to damage the locking tabs.

3. Ground the White Wire:

   • Locate a suitable grounding point.
   • Drill a 3/32” hole and secure the white wire using the provided eyelet and screw.

   Caution:

   • Do not drill into exposed surfaces. Verify the surface behind before drilling.

4. Mount the T-Connector Black Box:

   • Use the provided double-sided tape to mount the black box inside the vehicle.

   Warning:

   • The black box must only be mounted in the interior of the vehicle. Exposure to moisture or exterior elements may cause serious damage.

5. Install the Fuse:

   • Open the vehicle hood and locate the fuse box on the driver’s side near the front of the vehicle.
   • Insert the provided 20-amp fuse into the position labeled "Trailer."

6. Test the Installation:

   • Verify the installation with a test light or trailer.
   • Reset the vehicle electrical system by temporarily removing the key from the ignition.

7. Store the 4-Flat Connector:

   • Store the 4-flat connector in the rear cargo area when not in use.
