Installation Instructions for 2015-Current Honda HR-V

- Exhaust Removal Pliers

Step-by-Step Instructions:

Lower Exhaust:
- Detach the exhaust from the two rubber isolators using exhaust removal pliers.
- Spray lubricant on the isolators to ease removal.

Install Driver-Side Hardware:
- Insert the 7/16" carriage bolt and spacer into the driver-side frame rail using the pull wire procedure.
- Leave the pull wire attached at this time.
-
Raise Hitch:
- Position the hitch under the vehicle, feeding the pull wire through the attachment slot on the driver-side of the hitch.
-
Secure Hitch with U-Bolt:
- Hang the U-bolt around the tow hook and through the chain plate holes behind the receiver.
- Install the 3/8" flat washers, lock washers, and hex nuts. Center the hitch on the vehicle.

Secure Driver-Side Bolt:
- Feed the 7/16" conical washer over the pull wire to hold the bolt in place.
- Remove the pull wire and attach the 7/16" hex nut.

Install Passenger-Side Handle Nut:
- Bend approximately 1/2" of the handle nut downward using pliers for easier installation.
- Insert the handle nut through the access hole in the passenger-side frame rail.
- Align it with the attachment slot in the passenger-side hitch bracket.
- Install the 1/2" hex bolt and conical washer (teeth side against the hitch) through the side bracket, frame rail, and into the handle nut.

Tighten Fasteners:
- Tighten the fasteners to the following torque specifications:
- 7/16"-14 fasteners: 50 ft-lbs (68 N*m)
- 1/2"-13 fasteners: 50 ft-lbs (68 N*m)
- 3/8"-16 fasteners: 30 ft-lbs (41 N*m)
- Tighten the fasteners to the following torque specifications:

Adjust Exhaust Clearance:
- Bend the exhaust hanger spears downward by 1/2" to provide additional muffler clearance.
- Reattach the exhaust by reconnecting the rubber isolators.

Installation Instructions for T-One® T-Connector for Honda HR-V

- 10mm Socket & Ratchet or Wrench

Step-by-Step Instructions:

Prepare the Vehicle:
- Open the rear tailgate and remove the threshold, trunk floor panels, and trays.
- Set aside all removed parts carefully to avoid damage.

Remove Interior Trim Panels:
- Partially remove the lower interior trim panels on the driver’s side. Be cautious not to damage clips.
-
Locate Taillight Wiring Harness:
- On the driver’s side, locate the taillight wiring harness with a connection point matching the ends of the T-Connector.
- Separate the connector carefully, ensuring not to break the locking tabs. Clean all connector surfaces.
-
Connect the Driver-Side T-Connector:
- Insert the T-One® T-Connector end with the yellow wire between the vehicle’s wiring connectors.
- Ensure connectors are fully inserted and the locking tabs are secure.

Route and Connect the Passenger-Side T-Connector:
- Route the T-One® T-Connector end with the green wire behind the panels and along the threshold to the passenger side.
- Repeat steps 3 and 4 on the passenger side using the T-Connector with the green wire.

Ground the White Wire:
- Locate a suitable grounding point on the driver’s side near the connectors.
- Drill a 3/32” hole and secure the white wire using the provided eyelet and screw.
- Caution: Verify what is behind the surface before drilling to prevent damage or injury.

Mount the Black Box Module:
- Locate a flat, out-of-the-way surface and mount the T-One® T-Connector’s black box to prevent damage or rattling.

Connect the Power Wire:
- From inside the vehicle, connect the black 12-gauge wire to the black wire from the T-One® T-Connector’s black box using the supplied yellow butt connector.
- Route the black wire through a grommet and along the exterior frame or existing wiring to the engine compartment.
- Warning: Avoid routing near hot pipes, heat shields, fuel tanks, or other hazardous areas.

Connect to the Vehicle Battery:
- Disconnect the vehicle’s Negative (-) battery cable.
- Remove the fuse from the yellow fuse holder (provided).
- Attach the ring terminal to the Positive (+) battery cable and connect the other end of the fuse holder to the black 12-gauge wire using the yellow butt connector.
- Warning: Follow all warnings and cautions on the tow vehicle’s battery.

Secure the Wiring Harness:
- Use the provided cable ties to secure the wiring harness, avoiding areas that may pinch, cut, or melt the wire.

Reassemble the Vehicle:
- Reinstall the plastic trim panels, threshold, storage covers, and other components removed during installation.
- Ensure no wires are pinched or damaged.

Store the 4-Flat Connector:
- Store the 4-flat connector in the rear cargo area when not in use.
