Installation Instructions for 2020-Current Cadillac XT6

T15 Torx, T20 Torx
Masking Tape

Step-by-Step Instructions:

Remove Hitch Access Panel:
- Use a T15 Torx bit to remove screws from the lower edge of the hitch access panel.
Remove Fascia:
- Open the tailgate and remove the taillight cover by unscrewing with a T15 Torx bit, one screw per side.
- Apply masking tape around the wheel well and taillight areas to prevent scratching the vehicle.
- Remove screws connecting the fascia to the wheel well liner using a T15 Torx bit.
- Remove the screw at the bottom of the fascia near the wheel well liner with a T15 Torx bit.
- Starting at the bottom, pull off the wheel well trim using trim tools. Remove the screw behind the trim that secures the fascia to the vehicle body with a 7 mm socket.
- Remove screws at the bottom of the fascia near the hitch access panel using a 7 mm socket.
- Gently pull off the fascia starting from the wheel well area. Disconnect any electrical connectors and set the fascia aside.
Remove Bumper and Lower Exhaust:
- Use a 15 mm socket to remove M10 nuts from the top bumper attachments, two per side. Set the nuts aside for reuse.
- Remove M10 bolts from the bottom bumper attachments using a 15 mm socket, two per side.
- Lower the exhaust for clearance, ensuring the system is supported to avoid damage. Return the bumper to the vehicle owner.
Install Hitch:
- Raise the hitch into position and align the slots with the attachment holes in the vehicle frame.
- Use the provided pull wires to install the carriage bolts and spacers into the frame.
- Install conical washers (teeth side toward hitch) and hex nuts onto the carriage bolts.
Reinstall Exhaust Hangers:
- Reattach the exhaust hangers and bolts removed earlier. Optionally, reinstall the nuts from the vehicle bumper or return them to the vehicle owner.
Torque Fasteners:
- Tighten all 1/2"-13 GR5 fasteners to 75 ft-lbs (102 Nm).
- Tighten all M10 fasteners to 38 ft-lbs (52 Nm).
Reinstall Fascia:
- Reverse the process from Step 2 to reinstall the fascia. Ensure all electrical plugs are reconnected.
- Replace the hitch access panel when the hitch is not in use.

Safety Notes:

Always wear safety glasses during installation.
Periodically check the hitch to ensure all fasteners and the ball are securely tightened.
Replace any damaged hitch or ball immediately.
Do not cut or modify the hitch.
Observe safety precautions when working beneath the vehicle.
