Installation Instructions for Mercedes GLE350 (2021-Current)

Step-by-Step Instructions:

Remove Fascia:
- Using a 10mm socket, remove eight bolts from the bottom of the fascia.
- Use a flat head screwdriver to remove three rivets from the outside of the wheel well liner and one rivet from the inside, per side. Remove one bolt inside the wheel well liner, per side, using a 10mm socket.
- Open the tailgate. Use a T30 Torx bit to remove one screw from the rear trim panel at the center. Remove the plastic trim.
- Remove plastic covers from the driver and passenger side panels. Use a plastic trim tool to remove the bolt cover from the cargo tie hook. Remove one bolt from each side using a 12mm socket.
- Remove the taillights by first removing the cover from the passenger side panel. Use an 8mm socket with an extension to remove three hex nuts holding the taillight. Disconnect the wiring harness and remove the taillights.

Remove Bumper Beam:
- Use an 18mm socket to remove four M12 flange nuts from the bolts securing the bumper beam to the end panel on each side. Remove the bumper beam and return it to the vehicle owner.
- Note: The tow eye will be inoperative after bumper beam removal. Use the chain ring on the hitch as an alternative.

Install Hitch:
- Raise the hitch into position, aligning holes with the studs on the end panel. Loosely install eight factory M12 flange nuts to secure the hitch.

Tighten Fasteners:
- Using a torque wrench, tighten all M12 x 1.5 fasteners to 68 lb-ft (92 N·m).

Trim Fascia:
- Use a tape measure, marker, and die grinder to measure, mark, and trim the bottom cover as shown in the instructions.

Reinstall Components:
- Reinstall the fascia, taillights, plastic covers, plastic trim, and all fasteners.

- Drill with a 3/32" drill bit.
- Phillips head #2 screwdriver.
- Wire cutters, wire strippers/crimpers.

Installation of the Module:

Determine the mounting location for the module.
- Use the provided double-sided tape to secure the module.
- Ensure the epoxy side of the module faces downward to prevent water buildup.

Connect the module’s black wire to a 12-gauge (or larger) power wire using a yellow butt connector.
