Installation Instructions for Honda Civic and Acura 1.6 EL (Canada Only)

Specifications:

• Max Gross Trailer Weight: 2,000 lb.
• Max Tongue Weight: 200 lb.
• Note: Do not exceed towing vehicle ratings.

Step-by-Step Instructions:

1. Prepare Frame Rail:

   • Fishwire the carriage bolt and block (5121) through the end of the frame rail as shown in the diagram.

2. Position Hitch:

   • Raise the hitch into position and loosely install the U-bolt, lock washers, and locknuts as shown.

3. Insert Spacer Blocks:

   • Insert the 1/4” x 1-3/4” x 2” U-shaped block (3029) between each hitch side arm and the vehicle frame.
   • Be cautious not to sandwich and crush the turned-down edge of the frame hole.
   • Use the second U-shaped block (3029) if necessary to ensure that the receiver tube is level or slightly tilted upward.

4. Attach Tie Down Hook:

   • Install the 3/8”-16 U-bolt through the tie-down hook and hitch bracket as shown. Use block (6484) if needed to level or tilt the receiver tube slightly upward.

5. Tighten Fasteners:

   • Torque all 3/8”-16 GR2 fasteners to 20 Lb.-Ft.
   • Torque all 1/2”-13 GR5 fasteners to 75 Lb.-Ft.

Hardware List:

• (1) 1/2”-13 x 2.25” GR5 Carriage Bolt
• (1) 1/4” x 1 x 2 Block (5121)
• (2) 1/4” x 1-3/4” x 2” U-shaped Blocks (3029)
• (1) 3/8”-16 U-bolt GR2
• (2) Lock Washers
• (2) Locknuts
• Optional Block: (6484) for adjustment if needed.

Drawbar:

• Drawbar: 3598
• Length: 6.62”
• Rise: 2.75”
• Clip: 2209 DT
• Important: Use only the drawbar shown for correct bumper clearance and height. The drawbar must be used in the rise position only.

Safety Notes:

• Regularly inspect all fasteners and the hitch ball to ensure they are properly tightened.
• If the hitch is removed, plug all holes in the trunk pan or other body panels to prevent water and exhaust fumes from entering.
• Replace any damaged hitch or ball.
• Always observe safety precautions and wear safety glasses during installation.
• Do not cut access or attachment holes with a torch.
