Installation Instructions for T-Connector Adapter for KIA Sportage

- Wire Crimpers
- Wire Cutters

Step-by-Step Instructions:

Prepare the Vehicle:
- Disconnect the negative battery terminal to isolate the electrical system.
- Open the rear hatch and remove two screws securing the driver-side taillight assembly.
- Pull the taillight housing directly rearward to remove it.

Access the Interior Panels:
- Temporarily remove the rear threshold plate, storage covers, and floor covering.
- On the driver’s side, remove three screws securing the side trim panel but do not remove the panel to avoid damage.

Locate the Vehicle’s Wiring Harness:
- Underneath the rear of the vehicle on the driver’s side, locate the wiring harness and disconnect it carefully.
- Unseat the grommet on the vehicle’s wiring harness and push the grommet and harness into the vehicle.

Connect the Driver-Side T-Connector:
- Inside the rear cargo area, locate the vehicle wiring harness behind the side trim panel.
- Plug the T-Connector with yellow/green wires into the vehicle’s mating connector.
- Route the remaining T-Connector wires behind the side trim panel and out of the exposed hole.

Install the Passenger-Side T-Connector:
- Route the T-Connector with red/brown wires up to the driver’s side taillight pocket.
- Plug the T-Connector into the vehicle’s mating connector and reinstall the taillight assembly.

Ground the White Wire:
- Locate a suitable grounding point, such as the vehicle’s frame or crossmember.
- Clean the area and drill a 3/32” hole.
- Secure the white wire using the provided eyelet and screw.
Caution:
- Verify what is behind any surface before drilling to avoid vehicle or personal damage.

Connect the Power Wire:
- Insert the T-Connector’s grey 12-pin connector into the black box module.
- Connect the black 12-gauge wire and the two black wires from the T-Connector using the provided yellow butt connector.
- Route the black wire through a grommet or along the vehicle frame to the battery.

Connect to the Battery:
- Attach the ring terminal to the positive battery cable and secure it.
- Connect the other end of the fuse holder to the black wire using the yellow butt connector.
- Install the 15-amp fuse into the fuse holder.

Secure and Reassemble:
- Mount the black box module on a flat surface inside the vehicle using the provided double-sided tape.
- Secure the wiring harness with cable ties to prevent damage or rattling.
- Reinstall the trim panels, threshold, and other items removed during installation.

Test the Installation:
- Reconnect the negative battery terminal.
- Test the T-Connector with a test light or trailer.

- Max. tail lights: (7.5 amps)
