Installation Instructions for Mazda 3 (Including Speed 3)

- Flat Blade Screwdriver
- Fishwire (Provided)
- Drill Bits: 1/2”
- Wrenches: 11/16”
Specifications:
- Max Gross Trailer Weight: 2,000 lb. (908 kg)

- Note: Do not exceed towing vehicle manufacturer’s rating.
Step-by-Step Instructions:

Enlarge Attachment Holes:
- Use a 1/2” drill bit to enlarge the four existing attachment holes.

Remove Plastic Rivets:
- Use a flat blade screwdriver to remove and retain the two (2) plastic push rivets that attach the lower fascia supports to the vehicle.

Fishwire Carriage Bolts:
- Thread the fishwire through the carriage bolts and blocks.
- Pull the bolts and blocks through the ends of the bumper as shown in Figure 1.

Position Hitch:
- Place the hitch in position as shown in Figure 2.

Fishwire Additional Fasteners:
- Use the fishwire method to guide additional carriage bolts and blocks through the ends of the bumper mounts as shown in Figure 2.

Secure Fasteners:
- Install and tighten all fasteners as per the hardware list.

Reattach Plastic Rivets:
- Replace the plastic rivets removed in Step 2.
-
Tighten All Fasteners:
- Torque all 7/16”-14 GR5 fasteners to 50 Lb.-Ft. (68 N*M) using a torque wrench.
Hardware List:
- (4) Carriage Bolts: 7/16”-14 x 1-1/4” GR5
- (4) Hex Nuts: 7/16”-14
- (4) Blocks: 1/4” x 1” x 3”
- (4) Conical Toothed Washers
Safety Notes:
- Regularly inspect all fasteners and the hitch ball to ensure they are securely tightened.
- If the hitch is removed, plug any holes in the trunk pan or body panels to prevent water and exhaust fumes from entering.
- Replace any damaged hitch or ball immediately.
- Always observe safety precautions and wear eye protection when working beneath the vehicle.
- Do not use a torch to cut access or attachment holes.
Drawbar:
- Drawbar Kit: 3592
- Important: The drawbar must be used in the rise position only.
