Installation Instructions for Toyota Tacoma

Installation Time:

Step-by-Step Instructions:

Clean Weldnuts (if necessary):
- Use an M12x1.25 tap to clean the weldnuts at the ends of the frame rail on both sides (see Figure 2).
-
Install Hitch:
- Insert pull wires through the bumper beam side openings and use them to feed the carriage bolts and spacers into the bumper beam (see Figures 3 and 4). Leave the pull wires attached.
- Raise the hitch into position, feeding the carriage bolts through the top plate holes (see Figure 1).
- Loosely install M12 bolts and conical washers into the frame weldnuts.
- Loosely install nuts and conical washers on the carriage bolts.

Tighten Fasteners:
- Torque all M12 fasteners to 105 lb-ft (142 N·m).
- Torque all 7/16" fasteners to 50 lb-ft (68 N·m).

Check Installation:
- Ensure all fasteners are properly tightened.
- Inspect for any interference between the hitch and other components.

Step-by-Step Instructions:

Prepare the Vehicle:
- Disconnect and isolate the vehicle’s negative battery terminal.
- Locate the positive post underneath the hood, on the driver’s side.
- Open the rear tailgate and remove the rear combination lights using a 10mm socket.

Install Driver-Side T-One® Connector:
- Starting at the driver-side taillight pocket, connect the T-One® T-Connector with yellow, brown, and blue wires to the vehicle wiring connector.
- Secure the white wire ring terminal to an existing ground stud or drill a 3/32” hole for a suitable grounding point. Attach the white wire using the provided screw.

Mount the ModuLite® Box:
- Use the provided double-sided tape or cable ties to securely mount the ModuLite® box near the driver-side taillight.

Route Passenger-Side T-One® Connector:
- Route the T-One® Connector with green and red wires behind the rear bumper fascia to the passenger-side taillight pocket.
- Connect the T-One® T-Connector to the passenger-side wiring connectors.

Install Body Harness:
- Begin routing the body harness with red, black, and blue wires underneath the vehicle, following the existing body harness to the engine compartment.
- Secure the wires with cable ties, avoiding hot pipes, heat shields, and areas where the wires may be pinched or damaged.

Connect Power Wires:
- Route the black wire to the positive post underneath the hood and connect it using the provided 30 AMP fuse holder, butt connector, and ring terminal.
- Route the red wire to the positive post and connect it using the 25 AMP fuse holder, butt connector, and ring terminal.

Install Brake Control Harness:
- Route the Brake Control Harness white, blue, and black wires through an existing firewall grommet into the engine compartment.
- Connect the white wire to the chassis ground, the black wire to the battery with a 30 AMP fuse holder, and the blue wire to the body harness blue wire.

Install the 7-Way Connector:
- Determine a suitable mounting location for the 7-way connector and route the harness to the mounting point.
- Pin the 7-way connector according to the wiring diagram and mount it securely.

Reassemble Vehicle Components:
- Replace the rear combination lights, trim panels, and any grommets removed during installation.
- Seal altered grommets with silicone.

Reconnect the Battery:
- Reconnect the negative battery cable.

Test the Installation:
