Appearance Panel Removal:
- If the vehicle is equipped with an appearance panel covering the trunk pan, remove it.
- Decide with the vehicle owner whether the panel will be trimmed or left off entirely after installation. (Refer to Figure 2 for the area to be trimmed.)

Lower the Exhaust:
- Detach the exhaust from the rubber isolator to lower it.

Raise Hitch Into Position:
- Lift the hitch into place and install M12 hex bolts, lock washers, and flat washers into the existing weldnuts in the frame as shown in Figure 1.

Reinstall the Exhaust:
- Raise the exhaust back into position and reattach it to the rubber isolator.

Reinstall or Return Appearance Panel:
- If trimmed, reinstall the appearance panel. If untrimmed, return it to the vehicle owner.

- (6) M12 x 1.25 x 40mm Hex Bolts
- (6) 1/2" Lock Washers
- (6) 1/2" Flat Washers
Torque Specifications:
- Tighten all M12 CL10.9 fasteners to 75 lb-ft (102 N·m) using a torque wrench.
Safety Notes:
- Check the hitch frequently to ensure all fasteners and the ball are properly tightened.
- If the hitch is removed, plug all holes in the trunk pan or body panels to prevent water and exhaust fumes from entering.
- Replace any damaged hitch or ball immediately.

Step-by-Step Instructions:

Remove the Taillight Assemblies:
- Open the rear tailgate and remove two bolts securing each taillight.
- Carefully pry the taillight housings rearward, avoiding damage to the alignment tabs.
- Repeat for the passenger side.

Disconnect the Wiring Harness:
- Locate the taillight wiring harness on both sides of the vehicle.
- Separate the connectors, ensuring not to break the locking tabs.
- Clean the connector surfaces to remove dirt.

Remove Interior Panels:
- Temporarily remove the rear threshold plate by removing the cargo clips.
- Remove the jack storage compartment door on the passenger side.
- Carefully pull back the interior trim panels on both sides using a trim panel remover.

Mount the Black Box:

Part 1: Install the 4-Way to 7-Way Adapter

Mount the Adapter:
- Choose a suitable mounting point on the vehicle, typically near the hitch.
- Use the provided bracket and screws to secure the adapter.

Connect the 4-Flat Plug:
- Plug the 4-flat connector on the adapter into the existing 4-flat plug on the vehicle.
