Step-by-Step Instructions:

1. Remove Spare Tire:

   • Lower and remove the spare tire. The tire release is located under the storage compartment in the back of the vehicle.

2. Remove Rear Plastic Covers:

   • Remove the driver-side rear plastic cover by unscrewing the fasteners with a #2 Phillips screwdriver and removing (4) plastic push pins.
   • Repeat for the passenger-side rear plastic cover, removing the fasteners and (3) plastic push pins. Save all removed items.

3. Lower Exhaust:

   • Detach the rear and side exhaust hangers to lower the exhaust system.

4. Raise Hitch into Position:

   • Lift the hitch into position and insert M12 bolts through the bracket and frame.
   • Note: If the bumper locator pin interferes with the hardware, trim it with an angle grinder at the shoulder for proper clearance.

5. Insert M10 Bolts:

   • Insert M10 bolts through the bracket into the frame. Hand-tighten the bolts.

6. Torque Bolts:

   • Tighten the M10 bolts first, then the M12 bolts, to the specified torque values below.

7. Reinstall Exhaust Hangers:

   • Reattach the exhaust hangers to their mounts.

8. Trim and Reinstall Plastic Covers:

   • Trim the rear plastic covers as shown in Figure 2. Raise them back into position and reinstall the fasteners and push pins removed earlier.
   • Note: Obtain the vehicle owner's approval before cutting the plastic covers.

9. Reinstall Spare Tire:

   • Ensure the spare tire is seated properly when reinstalling.

Installation Instructions for T-Connector Adapter for Kia Sorento and Hyundai Veracruz

Step-by-Step Instructions:

1. Access the Vehicle Wiring:

   • Kia Sorento: Lower the spare tire to access the vehicle wiring.
   • Hyundai Veracruz: Locate the access hole inside the bumper support channel, above the passenger side exhaust, and route the T-Connector harness plugs through the hole.

2. Locate the Tow-Plug Harness:

   • Kia Sorento: On the passenger side, on top of the frame rail near the rear tire, locate the vehicle’s Tow-Plug harness. If covered by a protective cover, remove the plastic trim fasteners to access the harness.
   • Hyundai Veracruz: Find the Tow-Plug harness on the passenger side frame near the rear tire. Ensure all connector surfaces are clean and free of dirt.

3. Connect the T-Connector:

   • Remove the protective caps from the vehicle’s tow plug harness.
   • Insert the T-Connector harness into the vehicle’s Tow-Plug harness and lock it into place.
   • Ensure the connectors are fully inserted with locking tabs secure.

4. Route the T-Connector Wiring:

   • Kia Sorento: Route the T-Connector harness rearward to the back of the fascia and along the inside of the bumper toward the center of the vehicle.
   • Hyundai Veracruz: Route the T-Connector harness along the inside of the bumper support channel toward the center of the vehicle.

   Warning:

   • Route the wire carefully to avoid hot pipes, heat shields, the fuel tank, or any other points that may pinch or break the wire.

5. Mount the Black Box:

   • Use the provided double-sided tape to mount the T-Connector black box on the bumper support channel.
   • Secure all loose wires with cable ties to prevent damage or rattling.

6. Test the Installation:

   • Ensure all connections are complete. Reset the vehicle’s electrical system by temporarily removing the key from the ignition.
   • Test and verify the installation with a test light or trailer.

   Specifications:

   • Max. stop/turn light: 2 per side (4.2 amps)

Part 1: Install the 4-Way to 7-Way Adapter

Step-by-Step Instructions:

1. Mount the Adapter:

   • Choose a suitable mounting point on the vehicle, typically near the hitch.
   • Use the provided bracket and screws to secure the adapter.

2. Connect the 4-Flat Plug:

   • Plug the 4-flat connector on the adapter into the existing 4-flat plug on the vehicle.
   • This connection enables tail lights, left turn, and right turn signals.

3. Ground the Adapter:

   • Locate a clean, solid grounding point near the adapter.
   • Drill a 3/32" hole if necessary and secure the white ground wire from the adapter using the provided screw and eyelet.

4. Leave Additional Wires Disconnected:

   • The following wires will remain disconnected until Part 2:
     • Black Wire: Power from the battery.
     • Blue Wire: Brake control output.
     • Yellow Wire: Reverse light (optional; leave disconnected unless needed).

5. Test Initial Connection:

   • Use a test light or trailer to verify functionality of the 4-way connections (tail lights, turn signals).

Part 2: Install Brake Control Wiring

Step-by-Step Instructions:

1. Mount Circuit Breakers:

   • Install two 30A circuit breakers on the firewall or another suitable location near the battery.
   • Use self-tapping screws to mount them securely.

2. Route Power Wires:

   • Connect the black 12-gauge wire from the 7-way adapter to the auxiliary side of one circuit breaker (this powers the 7-way socket).
   • Run a heavy-gauge wire from the battery's positive terminal to the battery side of this circuit breaker, using a ring terminal.
   • Run another heavy-gauge wire from the battery's positive terminal to the auxiliary side of the second circuit breaker (for the brake controller).
