Installation Time:

• Approximately 45 minutes (for professional installers)

Step-by-Step Instructions:

1. Remove Bottom Side Plastic Panels:

   • Use 5.5mm and 10mm sockets to remove (2) bolts and (2) flange nuts per panel on both sides (see Figure 2).
   • Keep panels for reinstallation.
   • For Edge Sport and MKX AWD models:
     • Remove (6) bolts and (1) flange nut from the center plastic panel with heat shields (see Figure 3).
     • Remove and return the panel to the owner.
   • For MKX models:
     • Remove bumper fascia for easier installation.
     • Use a flat head and CR-VT 20 screwdriver to remove (3) rivets and (1) bolt per side (see Figure 4).
     • Open the trunk, gently pull the fascia away, and disconnect the electrical connector on the driver side (see Figure 5).

2. Lower Muffler:

   • Detach exhaust hanger rods from rubber isolators on both sides.
   • Use a stand to support the muffler to prevent damage.
   • Skip this step if the bumper fascia is already removed.

3. Install Hitch:

   • Feed carriage bolts (Item 1) and spacers (Item 2) into the frame using pull wires (Item 5) (see Figure 6).
   • Leave pull wires attached.
   • Use a die grinder to cut the stud above the center of the muffler (see Figure 7).
   • Raise the hitch into position, sliding it over the passenger side exhaust first.
   • Feed pull wires through bracket holes, remove them, and loosely install washers (Items 3 and 6) and hex nuts (Item 4).

4. Tighten Fasteners:

   • Torque all 7/16" fasteners to 50 lb-ft (68 N·m).

5. Reinstall Components:

   • Reinstall all fasteners, fascia, muffler, and plastic panels removed in Steps 1 and 2.

Safety Notes:

• Check the hitch frequently to ensure all fasteners and the ball are properly tightened.

• Follow all safety precautions when working beneath the vehicle, and wear eye protection.
• Do not cut access or attachment holes with a torch.

Installation Instructions for T-One® T-Connector for Lincoln MKX

Tools Required:

• Torx 25 Driver
• 10mm Socket or Wrench
• 5.5mm or 7/32” Socket or Wrench
• Trim Panel Remover
• Drill (3/32” Drill Bit)
• Phillips Head Screwdriver
• Test Probe

Step-by-Step Instructions:

1. Access the Taillight Housing:

   • Open the rear tailgate to access the screws holding the taillights in place.
   • Remove the T-25 Torx screws and carefully pry the taillight housings rearward without breaking the alignment tabs.

2. Remove Lower Fascia Components:

   • On both sides, remove clips from the wheel well and all screws from the lower fascia area.
   • Carefully pull back fascia pieces to expose the area behind the fascia underneath the vehicle.

3. Mount the T-Connector Black Box:

   • Underneath the vehicle, determine a mounting point behind the rear bumper fascia on the driver’s side.
   • Use the provided double-sided tape to mount the black box with the epoxy side facing down to prevent water accumulation.

4. Connect Driver-Side T-Connector:

   • Disconnect the vehicle wiring harness from the driver-side taillight socket.
   • Route the T-Connector end with yellow wires up between the bumper and vehicle body into the taillight pocket.
   • Plug the T-Connector with yellow wires in-between the driver-side taillight socket and vehicle wiring harness.

5. Connect Passenger-Side T-Connector:

   • Route the T-Connector end with green wires to the passenger side and the 4-flat connector underneath the bumper.
   • Route the green wire through the opening on the passenger side and plug it into the taillight socket, repeating the process from Step 4.

6. Ground the White Wire:

   • Locate a suitable grounding point near the black converter box. Avoid drilling into the vehicle floor or bed.
   • Drill a 3/32” hole and secure the white wire using the provided eyelet and screw.

   Caution: Verify the area behind any surface before drilling to prevent damage or injury.

7. Prepare and Connect the Power Wire:

   • Disconnect the vehicle’s Negative (-) battery cable and remove the fuse from the yellow fuse holder.
   • Attach the ring terminal to the Positive (+) battery cable and secure it. Connect the other end of the fuse holder to the black 12-gauge wire using the yellow butt connector.

8. Route the Power Wire:

   • Route the black 12-gauge wire rearward along the frame rail, ensuring to avoid hot pipes, heat shields, fuel tanks, or any areas that may pinch the wire.

9. Connect the Power Wire to the Black Box:

   • Route the black wire to the driver-side taillight area and connect it to the black wire from the T-Connector black box using the provided yellow butt connector.

10. Reconnect the Battery and Test:

    • Reconnect the vehicle’s Negative (-) battery cable.
    • Install the 15-amp fuse into the fuse holder and test the installation using a test light or trailer.

11. Reassemble the Vehicle:

    • Reinstall the taillight housing assemblies, securing the vehicle wiring harness between the housing and the body.
    • Use the provided cable ties to secure the remainder of the T-Connector harness under the bumper.
    • Replace all covers, clips, and screws removed during installation.

12. Mount the 4-Flat Connector:

    • Mount the 4-flat connector in a suitable location under the vehicle. Bracket not included.

• Max. stop/turn light: 2 per side (4.2 amps)

Installation Instructions for 4-Way to 7-Way Adapter and Brake Control Wiring

Tools Required:

• Phillips Head Screwdriver
• Drill with 3/32" Drill Bit

• Wire Cutters
• Test Light or Multimeter
• Cable Ties

Part 1: Install the 4-Way to 7-Way Adapter

Step-by-Step Instructions:

1. Mount the Adapter:

   • Choose a suitable mounting point on the vehicle, typically near the hitch.
   • Use the provided bracket and screws to secure the adapter.

2. Connect the 4-Flat Plug:

   • Plug the 4-flat connector on the adapter into the existing 4-flat plug on the vehicle.
   • This connection enables tail lights, left turn, and right turn signals.

3. Ground the Adapter:

   • Locate a clean, solid grounding point near the adapter.
   • Drill a 3/32" hole if necessary and secure the white ground wire from the adapter using the provided screw and eyelet.

4. Leave Additional Wires Disconnected:

   • The following wires will remain disconnected until Part 2:
     • Black Wire: Power from the battery.
     • Blue Wire: Brake control output.
     • Yellow Wire: Reverse light (optional; leave disconnected unless needed).

5. Test Initial Connection:

   • Use a test light or trailer to verify functionality of the 4-way connections (tail lights, turn signals).

Part 2: Install Brake Control Wiring

Step-by-Step Instructions:

1. Mount Circuit Breakers:

   • Install two 30A circuit breakers on the firewall or another suitable location near the battery.
   • Use self-tapping screws to mount them securely.

2. Route Power Wires:

   • Connect the black 12-gauge wire from the 7-way adapter to the auxiliary side of one circuit breaker (this powers the 7-way socket).
   • Run a heavy-gauge wire from the battery's positive terminal to the battery side of this circuit breaker, using a ring terminal.
   • Run another heavy-gauge wire from the battery's positive terminal to the auxiliary side of the second circuit breaker (for the brake controller).

3. Install the Brake Controller:

   • Mount the brake controller under the dash on a firm surface.
   • Use the following connections:
     • Red Wire: Connect to the cold side of the brake switch (active only when the brake pedal is pressed).
     • Blue Wire: Connect to the blue wire on the 7-way adapter for trailer brakes.
     • White Wire: Connect to a solid ground point on the vehicle body.
     • Black Wire: Connect to the auxiliary side of the second 30A circuit breaker (provides power to the brake controller).

4. Optional: Connect Reverse Light Circuit:

   • If the trailer has a reverse light circuit, connect the yellow wire from the 7-way adapter to the vehicle’s reverse light circuit.

5. Reconnect the Battery:

   • Reattach the negative battery cable and ensure all connections are secure.
   • Insert the fuses into both circuit breakers.

6. Secure All Wires:

   • Use cable ties to secure all loose wires and prevent damage or rattling.

7. Test the System:

   • Verify functionality of all circuits (running lights, turn signals, brake lights, and brake controller output).
   • If applicable, test the reverse light circuit.

Notes:

• Most installations will only require connecting the black and blue wires from the 7-way adapter.
• Leave the yellow wire disconnected unless the trailer has a reverse light or surge brake lockout circuit.
