Wiring Access Location:

Step-by-Step Instructions:

1. Lower Exhaust System:

   • Remove two (2) rubber isolators from the muffler hangers and one (1) from below the rear axle to temporarily lower the exhaust system.
   • For dual exhaust models, repeat this step on both sides.

2. Lower Heat Shields:

   • Remove four (4) M6 bolts to temporarily lower the heat shields.
   • Retain the bolts for reinstallation.

3. Prepare Frame:

   • Remove the rubber plugs from the holes in the bottom of the frame.
   • Drill a 1-1/8" access hole in the bottom of the frame approximately 2" from the forward heat shield attachment point (refer to Figure 1).

4. Insert Fasteners:

   • Fish-wire a 7/16"-14 x 1.50 GR5 carriage bolt and a 1 x 2 spacer block through the access hole and down through the rear-most hole in the bottom of the frame.
   • Fish-wire another carriage bolt and a 1 x 3 spacer block through the access hole and down through the forward-most hole in the bottom of the frame.
   • Leave fish wires attached and guide them through the hitch holes.

5. Install Hitch:

   • Raise the hitch into position, ensuring the holes in the hitch align with the carriage bolts in the frame.
   • Secure the rear carriage bolts with conical toothed washers and hex nuts, but do not tighten fully.
   • Place a flat washer on each forward carriage bolt between the frame and the hitch bracket. Secure with conical toothed washers and hex nuts.

6. Trim Heat Shields:

   • Trim the heat shields around the forward attachment bolt area so they sit flat against the hitch bracket.

7. Reinstall Components:

   • Reattach the heat shields on top of the hitch brackets using the four (4) M6 bolts removed earlier.
   • Raise the exhaust back into position and reattach the rubber isolators, including the one under the axle.

Torque Specifications:

• Tighten all 7/16"-14 GR5 fasteners to 50 ft-lb (68 N*m).

• (4) Carriage Bolt, 7/16"-14 x 1.50 GR5
• (2) Spacer Block, 3/16" x 1 x 2
• (2) Spacer Block, 1/4" x 1 x 3
• (4) Conical Toothed Washer, 7/16"
• (4) Hex Nut, 7/16"-14
• (2) Flat Washer, 7/16"
• (4) Fish Wire, 7/16"

Safety Notes:

• Frequently check the hitch to ensure all fasteners and the ball are securely tightened.
• If the hitch is removed, plug all holes in the trunk pan or other body panels to prevent water or exhaust fumes from entering.
• Replace any damaged hitch or ball immediately.
• Observe safety precautions when working beneath the vehicle and wear eye protection.
• Do not cut access or attachment holes with a torch.

Installation Instructions for T-Connector Trailer Wiring Harness

• Trim Panel Remover
• 10mm Socket & Ratchet (or Wrench)
• Drill with 3/32” drill bit
• Test Probe

Step-by-Step Instructions:

1. Prepare the Vehicle:

   • Open the trunk.
   • Remove the threshold panel to access the trunk floor.
   • Partially detach the felt trunk liner on both sides to expose the taillight wiring harness.
   • Remove the access panels on both sides.

2. Locate the Taillight Wiring Harness:

   • On both the driver’s side and passenger’s side, locate the taillight wiring harness connectors.
   • Carefully disconnect the connectors, ensuring not to break the locking tabs.
   • Ensure all surfaces are clean and free of dirt or debris.

3. Install the T-Connector:

   • On the driver’s side, connect the T-Connector with the yellow wire between the vehicle’s taillight connectors.
   • Ensure the connectors are fully engaged and locked into place.
   • Route the T-Connector harness with the green wire across the threshold to the passenger side.
   • Connect the green wire T-Connector to the passenger-side taillight harness.

4. Ground the White Wire:

   • Locate a suitable grounding point near the driver-side wiring harness.
   • Use an existing ground stud or drill a 3/32” hole into clean, bare metal.
   • Secure the white wire using the provided eyelet and screw.

   Caution: Verify what is behind the surface before drilling to avoid damage or injury.

5. Connect the Power Wire:

   • Connect the red power wire from the T-Connector’s black module to the black 12-gauge power wire using the yellow butt connector.
   • Route the black power wire:
     • Through an existing grommet or along the thresholds to the engine compartment.
     • Avoid sharp edges, moving parts, or hot components such as the exhaust and fuel lines.

6. Install the Fuse Holder:

   • Cut the yellow fuse holder wire and attach the ring terminal to one end.
   • Secure the ring terminal to the vehicle’s positive battery terminal.
   • Use the yellow butt connector to attach the fuse holder to the black power wire.
   • Insert the provided 10-amp fuse into the fuse holder.

7. Reconnect the Battery:

   • Reconnect the vehicle’s negative battery terminal.
   • If applicable, temporarily remove the key from the ignition to reset the vehicle’s electrical system.

8. Test the Wiring System:

   • Use a test light or connect a trailer to verify functionality of:
     • Running Lights
     • Brake Lights
     • Left Turn Signal
     • Right Turn Signal

9. Mount the T-Connector Black Box:

   • Clean a flat surface on the driver-side floor area in the rear cargo space using rubbing alcohol and water.
   • Secure the T-Connector black box using the provided double-sided tape.

10. Secure the Wiring Harness:

    • Use the provided cable ties to secure the wiring harness, ensuring it does not pinch, rattle, or contact hot/moving components.
    • Reinstall the threshold panel, trunk liner, and access panels.

11. Store the 4-Flat Connector:

    • Place the 4-flat connector in the rear cargo area when not in use.

Specifications:

• Stop/Turn Lights: 2.1 amps per side
• Tail Lights: 5.6 amps maximum
