Step-by-Step Instructions:

1. Lower Exhaust System:

   • Remove two (2) rubber isolators from the muffler hangers and one (1) from below the rear axle to temporarily lower the exhaust system.
   • For dual exhaust models, repeat this step on both sides.

2. Lower Heat Shields:

   • Remove four (4) M6 bolts to temporarily lower the heat shields.
   • Retain the bolts for reinstallation.

3. Prepare Frame:

   • Remove the rubber plugs from the holes in the bottom of the frame.
   • Drill a 1-1/8" access hole in the bottom of the frame approximately 2" from the forward heat shield attachment point (refer to Figure 1).

4. Insert Fasteners:

   • Fish-wire a 7/16"-14 x 1.50 GR5 carriage bolt and a 1 x 2 spacer block through the access hole and down through the rear-most hole in the bottom of the frame.
   • Fish-wire another carriage bolt and a 1 x 3 spacer block through the access hole and down through the forward-most hole in the bottom of the frame.
   • Leave fish wires attached and guide them through the hitch holes.

5. Install Hitch:

   • Raise the hitch into position, ensuring the holes in the hitch align with the carriage bolts in the frame.
   • Secure the rear carriage bolts with conical toothed washers and hex nuts, but do not tighten fully.
   • Place a flat washer on each forward carriage bolt between the frame and the hitch bracket. Secure with conical toothed washers and hex nuts.

6. Trim Heat Shields:

   • Trim the heat shields around the forward attachment bolt area so they sit flat against the hitch bracket.

7. Reinstall Components:

   • Reattach the heat shields on top of the hitch brackets using the four (4) M6 bolts removed earlier.
   • Raise the exhaust back into position and reattach the rubber isolators, including the one under the axle.

Torque Specifications:

• Tighten all 7/16"-14 GR5 fasteners to 50 ft-lb (68 N*m).

• (4) Carriage Bolt, 7/16"-14 x 1.50 GR5
• (2) Spacer Block, 3/16" x 1 x 2
• (2) Spacer Block, 1/4" x 1 x 3
• (4) Conical Toothed Washer, 7/16"
• (4) Hex Nut, 7/16"-14
• (2) Flat Washer, 7/16"
• (4) Fish Wire, 7/16"

Safety Notes:

• Frequently check the hitch to ensure all fasteners and the ball are securely tightened.
• If the hitch is removed, plug all holes in the trunk pan or other body panels to prevent water or exhaust fumes from entering.
• Replace any damaged hitch or ball immediately.
• Observe safety precautions when working beneath the vehicle and wear eye protection.
• Do not cut access or attachment holes with a torch.

Installation Instructions for T-One® T-Connector for Subaru Legacy

• Trim Panel Remover
• Drill (3/32” Drill Bit)
• Phillips Head Screwdriver
• Test Probe

Step-by-Step Instructions:

1. Open the Trunk:

   • Temporarily remove the rear threshold plate and partially remove the felt trunk liner behind the taillights.

2. Access the Taillight Wiring Harness:

   • Locate the vehicle’s taillight wiring harness on both driver and passenger sides. The harness will have a connection point matching the ends of the T-One® T-Connector.
   • Disconnect the harness carefully, ensuring the locking tabs remain intact. Clean all connectors to ensure proper connection.

3. Install the Driver-Side T-Connector:

   • Insert the T-One® T-Connector end with the yellow wire between the driver-side wiring connectors.
   • Ensure all connectors are fully inserted and locked securely.

4. Route the Passenger-Side T-Connector:

   • Route the T-Connector end with the green wire to the passenger side, following the panels and threshold.
   • Repeat Step 3 for the passenger-side T-Connector.

5. Ground the White Wire:

   • Locate a suitable grounding point near the connector.
   • Clean dirt and rustproofing from the area.
   • Drill a 3/32” hole and secure the white wire using the provided eyelet and screw.

   Caution: Verify the surface before drilling to avoid damage or injury.

6. Connect the Power Wire:

   • Inside the vehicle, connect the black 12-gauge wire from the T-One® T-Connector black box to the supplied black wire using the yellow butt connector.
   • Route the black wire through a grommet and along the exterior frame or follow existing wiring along the thresholds to the engine compartment up to the battery.

   Warning: Avoid routing the wire near hot pipes, heat shields, or fuel tanks.

7. Connect to the Battery:

   • Disconnect the vehicle’s negative (-) battery cable.
   • Remove the fuse from the yellow fuse holder.
   • Attach the ring terminal to the positive (+) battery cable.
   • Connect the other end of the fuse holder to the black wire using the yellow butt connector.
   • Insert the 15-amp fuse into the fuse holder.

8. Reconnect the Battery:

   • Reconnect the vehicle’s negative (-) battery cable.
   • Test the installation with a test light or trailer.

   Warning: Ensure all connections are complete for proper functionality.

9. Mount the Black Box:

   • Mount the T-One® T-Connector black box on a flat surface using the provided double-sided tape.

10. Secure the Harness:

    • Use the provided cable ties to secure the harness, avoiding areas where wires could pinch, cut, or melt.

11. Reassemble the Vehicle:

    • Replace all removed components, ensuring no wires are pinched or damaged.

12. Store the 4-Flat Connector:

    • Store the 4-flat connector in the trunk when not in use.

• Max. tail lights: 7.5 amps
