Installation Instructions for Toyota Highlander (Including Hybrid Models)
Part Numbers:

Tools Required:
- 14mm Socket
- 17mm Socket

- Phillips Head Screwdriver
- Torque Wrench

Step-by-Step Instructions:

Remove Underbody Panels:
- Use a flat head screwdriver to remove all push fasteners.
- Use a Phillips head screwdriver to remove the remaining screws.
- Use a 14mm socket and ratchet to remove the bolt holding the passenger-side panel.
- Set the underbody panels aside or trim them for reinstallation in Step 6.

Remove Tow Loops and Rubber Plugs:
- Remove the tow loops from both sides using the 14mm socket.
- Return the tow loops to the vehicle owner.
- Remove (3) rubber plugs from the passenger side and (1) rubber plug from the driver side.

Raise Hitch into Position:
- Carefully raise the hitch over the exhaust and towards the muffler.
- Pull the hitch back towards the bumper so that the hitch frame rails align with the existing holes in the vehicle's frame.

Install Hardware:
- Install the supplied M10-1.25 x 30 hex bolts and 7/16" conical tooth washers into the frame rails through the existing holes.

Torque Fasteners:
- Torque all M10 bolts to 48 lb-ft using a torque wrench.

Trim and Reinstall Underbody Panels:
- Trim the driver-side and passenger-side underbody panels as follows:
- Driver-Side Trim Notes:
- Long thin cut: 7.5 inches from the edge of the large hole and 2.5 inches wide.
- Trim the corner along the panel seams.
- Passenger-Side Trim Notes:
- Align the horizontal cut with the top of the rib on the panel.
- Driver-Side Trim Notes:
- Reinstall the trimmed panels using the hardware removed in Step 1.
- Trim the driver-side and passenger-side underbody panels as follows:
Hardware List:
- (4) M10 x 1.25 x 30 Hex Bolts (Class 10.9, Yellow Zinc)
- (4) 7/16" Conical Toothed Washers
Safety Notes:
- Periodically check this receiver hitch to ensure all fasteners are tight and structural components are sound.
- Warning: Non-trailer loads must be supported by 18050 stabilizing straps.
- Failure to properly support non-trailer loads will void the product warranty.

Step-by-Step Instructions:

Access the Rear Cargo Area:
- Open the vehicle's tailgate.
- On the driver side, remove the access panels, threshold, trunk floor panels, and trays.
- Set aside all removed items, taking care not to damage any parts.

Locate and Connect the Taillight Wiring Harness:
- Locate the vehicle's 4-pin taillight wiring harness connector on the driver side.
- The connector will be similar to the one on the custom wiring connector.
- Insert the custom wiring connector into the vehicle's connector.
- Ensure the connectors are fully inserted with locking tabs in place.

Route the 4-Flat Connector:
- When in use, route the 4-flat connector to the center of the vehicle and out of the trunk.
- When not in use, roll up the connector and store it in a convenient, out-of-the-way location inside the trunk.
