Step 1: Remove fascia fasteners
- Temporarily remove (4) plastic fasteners and (4) hex screws from the fascia.
Step 2: Lower the exhaust
- Remove (3) rubber isolators to lower the exhaust.
- Support the exhaust to avoid possible damage.
Step 3: Remove the heat shield
- Temporarily remove the heat shield by detaching (4) nuts.
- If a tow loop is present, remove it and return it to the vehicle owner.
Step 4: Position hitch bolts
- Insert the supplied 4" hex bolts with washers into the frame rails from the outside.
- Raise the hitch into position between the frame rails.
- Push the front bolts through the mounting plates and loosely install the 1/2" hex flange nuts.
Step 5: Mark for fascia trimming
- Rotate the hitch up so it touches the fascia and mark the area for trimming.
Step 6: Trim the fascia
- Trim the fascia according to the provided diagram.
- Check the fit before completing the trim.
Step 7: Secure the hitch
- Push the hitch into the rearmost position and secure it to the frame with (4) flange nuts.
Step 8: Torque all fasteners
- Torque all 1/2" fasteners to 110 lb-ft.
Step 9: Reinstall components
- Reinstall the heat shield, fasteners, and exhaust in reverse order.

2. Install the Mounting Bracket:
- Position the bracket and mark the mounting holes.
- Drill holes using a 1/8” drill bit.
- Secure the bracket with the provided self-tapping screws (do not overtighten).
3. Attach the Brake Controller:
- Place the keyed spacer and washer on each side of the mounting bracket.
- Slide the brake controller into the bracket and secure it with screws.
4. Wiring the Brake Controller:
- Black Wire (Power Input): Connect to the positive (+) battery terminal through a 30-amp auto-reset circuit breaker.
- White Wire (Ground): Connect directly to the negative (-) battery terminal.
- Red Wire (Stoplight Input): Connect to the stoplight wire that is “hot” only when the brake pedal is pressed.
- Use a test probe to verify the correct wire.
- Blue Wire (Brake Output): Connect to the trailer’s brake control wire through the 7-way connector.
