Installation Instructions for T-Connector Adapter for Kia Sorento

Step-by-Step Instructions:

Open the Rear Tailgate:
- Access the bolts holding the taillights in place.
- Use a Phillips head screwdriver to remove the taillights on both the driver and passenger sides.
- Carefully pull the taillights away from the vehicle to avoid damaging the alignment pins.

Disconnect the Vehicle Wiring Harness:
- On the driver’s side, disconnect the vehicle wiring harness from the taillight socket.
- Ensure the connectors are clean and free of dirt.

Install the Driver-Side T-Connector:
- Insert the T-Connector with the yellow wire between the vehicle wiring connectors.
- Ensure the connectors are fully inserted with locking tabs in place.

Route the Passenger-Side T-Connector:
- Route the 4-flat harness and the green and red wires down through the bumper brace.
- Continue routing behind the bumper fascia and toward the passenger side.
- Route the green wire harness up to the passenger-side taillight and repeat Steps 2 and 3.
Warning:
- Avoid routing the wire near hot pipes, heat shields, fuel tanks, or other areas that may pinch or damage the wire.

Mount the Black Box:
- Use the provided double-sided tape to mount the T-Connector black box to the bottom of the bumper support channel.

Ground the White Wire:
- Locate a suitable grounding point near the driver-side connectors.
- Drill a 3/32” hole and secure the white wire with the provided eyelet and screw.
Caution:
- Verify the area behind the surface before drilling to avoid damage or injury.

Connect the Power Wire:
- Locate the black 12-gauge power wire from the T-Connector box.
- Attach the provided black wire using the supplied yellow butt connector.
- Route the wire through the taillight socket opening, behind the bumper, and along the vehicle frame to the engine compartment.

Connect to the Vehicle Battery:
- Disconnect the vehicle’s negative (-) battery cable.
- Remove the fuse from the yellow fuse holder.
- Attach the fuse holder ring terminal to the positive (+) battery cable.
- Connect the black wire to the fuse holder using the yellow butt connector.
- Insert the 15-amp fuse into the fuse holder.
Warning:
- Follow all warnings and instructions printed on the vehicle battery.

Reconnect the Battery:
- Reconnect the negative (-) battery cable.
- Test the installation with a test light or trailer.

Secure the Wiring:
- Use the provided cable ties to secure the harness, avoiding areas that could pinch, cut, or melt the wires.

Reinstall the Taillight Assemblies:
- Reinstall the taillight assemblies and any items removed during installation, ensuring no wires are pinched or damaged.
