Installation Instructions for Hyundai Elantra (Except N, N Line)
Part Numbers:

- Ratchet
- Torque wrench

Step-by-Step Instructions:
Step 1: Remove Underbody Panel
- Remove the underbody panel from the driver-side rear frame rail using a small screwdriver and a 10mm socket.
Step 2: Lower Exhaust
- Support the exhaust and carefully lower it by removing the three rubber isolators.
Step 3: Prepare Frame Rail
- Remove the heat shield nut from the bottom of the passenger-side frame rail and flatten the heat shield against the frame rail.
- Remove the rubber plug from the bottom of each frame rail.
- Return the removed parts to the vehicle owner.
Step 4: Fishwire Hardware
- Reverse fishwire a 7/16” carriage bolt (#2) and square hole spacer (#3) into the existing access hole in the frame rail on each side of the vehicle.
Step 5: Position Hitch
- Raise the hitch into position over the bolts, carefully remove the fishwires, and secure the hitch with 7/16” serrated flange nuts (#4).
- Mark the rearward-most hole on each frame rail.
- Carefully remove the nuts, reinstall the fishwires, and lower the hitch.
Step 6: Drill Rearward Holes
- Drill the rearmost attachment holes in the marked areas.
- Push the hardware in the access hole toward the front of the vehicle, taking care not to lose the fishwire.
- Fishwire the remaining hardware into the drilled hole and pull all hardware into position.
Step 7: Secure Hitch
- Raise the hitch into position over the 7/16" carriage bolts (#2), carefully remove the fishwires, and secure the hitch with 7/16” serrated flange nuts (#4).
- Torque all 7/16” hardware to 59 ft-lbs.
Step 8: Reinstall Components
- Reinstall the exhaust lowered in Step 2.
- Trim the underbody panel removed in Step 1 using the trim diagram for reference and reinstall it.

- (4) 7/16" Square hole spacer, 2-1/4” x 0.88” x 1/4”
- (4) 7/16" Serrated-flange nut
- (4) 7/16" Fishwire

Step-by-Step Instructions:
Step 1: Remove Underbody Panel

Step-by-Step Instructions:

Prepare the Vehicle:
- Locate the vehicle battery in the engine compartment and disconnect the negative terminal. Secure the cable away from the battery to prevent accidental contact during the installation.

Remove Floor Coverings and Threshold:
- Remove the trunk floor coverings.
- Unscrew the two cargo hooks on each side of the trunk threshold.
- Using a panel trim removal tool, remove the push fastener in the center of the threshold under the trunk latch.
- Gently pull up on the threshold and remove it by pulling straight upward.

Detach Side Panels:
- Remove the threaded cargo net mount from its post.
- Use the panel trim removal tool to remove the two small push fasteners in both sidewall panels. Pull the trunk liner outward. Repeat for the opposite side.

Access Driver Side Taillight Connectors:
- Pull back the driver-side sidewall panel to locate the vehicle's taillight wiring connectors. Disconnect the connectors from the taillight housing, taking care not to damage the locking tabs.
- Insert the custom wiring harness end with the yellow wire between the separated connectors. Ensure the connectors are fully seated with locking tabs engaged.

Mount the Converter Box:
- Locate a flat surface on the driver side inside the trunk.
- Mount the black converter box using the provided double-sided tape.

Install Passenger Side Wiring:
- Route the green wire along the back of the trunk below the threshold plate to the passenger side.
- Locate the passenger-side taillight housing and disconnect the connectors.
- Insert the wiring harness end with the green wire between the separated connectors. Ensure all connections are secure.

Route and Connect the Power Wire:
- Route the black power wire from the vehicle battery to the converter as detailed in the Powered Converter Lead Instruction Sheet.
- Secure the wire using cable ties, avoiding sharp edges and hot or moving components.

Test and Secure the 4-Flat Connector:
- Route the 4-flat connector to the center of the vehicle and out of the trunk when in use. Avoid interference with the trunk latching mechanism.
- When not in use, roll up the 4-flat connector and store it safely inside the trunk.
- Test the wiring harness using a test light, 4-flat tester, or a functioning trailer to verify proper operation.

Reassemble the Vehicle:
- Secure all loose wires using the provided cable ties.
- Reinstall all removed components, including the sidewall panels, threshold, and floor coverings.
- Reconnect the negative terminal to the battery and attach the provided dust cover to the 4-flat connector to protect it from corrosion.
