Prepare the Fascia for Installation:
- Locate the existing grooved area on the bottom of the fascia as shown in Figure 2.
- Cut the fascia to provide access to the mounting holes in the vehicle cross member.
- Note: Obtain the vehicle owner's approval before cutting.

Position the Hitch:
- Raise the hitch into position, aligning the holes in the hitch top plate with the holes in the vehicle cross member.

Install Fasteners:
- Secure the hitch using four (4) M10 x 1.50 x 70mm hex bolts and four (4) 3/8” conical toothed washers.

Torque Fasteners:
- Tighten all M10 CL8.8 fasteners to 38 lb-ft (52 N·m) using a torque wrench.
Hardware List:
- (4) M10 x 1.50 x 70mm CL8.8 Hex Bolts

Installation Instructions for T-Connector Adapter for Volkswagon Tiguan

Step-by-Step Instructions:

Remove the Taillight Assemblies:
- Open the tailgate and use a trim panel puller to carefully pry the black taillight trim cover to expose the two Torx-20 fasteners.
- Use the Torx-T20 driver to remove the two bolts holding the taillight in place. Do not remove the taillight yet.

Prepare the Rear Cargo Area:
- Remove all floor coverings and storage trays to expose the spare tire compartment.
- Use a trim panel tool to carefully pry the threshold plate away from the vehicle without damaging the clips.

Remove Interior Trim Panels:
- Partially remove the lower interior trim panels on both sides of the vehicle to access the taillight wiring.

Remove the Taillights:
- Locate the white plastic Philips head screw behind the trim panel holding the taillight in place.
- Turn the screw 90° counterclockwise with a Philips screwdriver to release the taillight.
- Carefully remove the taillight assembly and repeat for the passenger side.

Connect the Passenger-Side T-Connector:
- On the passenger side, route the T-Connector with the green wire through the square hole to the taillight pocket area.
- Plug the T-Connector between the taillight socket and vehicle wiring harness.

- Route the black wire through a grommet and along the vehicle’s exterior frame or thresholds to the battery, avoiding hot pipes, heat shields, and other potential damage points.

Reconnect the Battery:
- Reconnect the negative (-) battery cable.
- Install the 15-amp fuse into the fuse holder and test the installation with a test light or trailer.
