- Wrenches: 18mm, 19mm, 6” ratchet extension
Step-by-Step Instructions:
- Lower the exhaust system at the rubber isolator. Spray lubricant or soapy water on the metal hanger rod and rubber isolator to ease removal.
- Remove the two bolts on the tie-down on the driver’s side frame rail. Return fasteners to the vehicle owner.
- Tape three spacers (item 2) and five flat washers (item 6) together for easier installation.
- Clean threads to ensure bolts start easily. Spray lubricant into each weldnut. Work the bolt in and out until cleaned, then remove the lubricant using household detergent and flush clean.
- Raise the hitch over the exhaust and install bolt (item 7) and conical washer (item 8) to hold the hitch in position.
- On the driver’s side, install the forward bolt, lock washer, flat washer, and spacer to secure the hitch in position.
- Slide taped spacers (item 2) into position between the tie-down and hitch bracket. Install the spacer, flat washer, lock washer, and hex bolt (item 1). Do not tighten.
- Slide taped washers (item 6) into position between the tie-down and hitch bracket. Install the spacer, flat washer, lock washer, and hex bolt (item 1). Hand-tighten the fastener and orient spacers as shown in the figure.
- Install the remaining fasteners on the passenger’s side frame rail.
- Tighten all fasteners to the specified torque.
- Reattach the exhaust system.

Step-by-Step Instructions:

Prepare the Vehicle:
- Open the rear tailgate to access the bolts holding the taillights.
- Remove the taillights on both the driver and passenger sides.
- Remove the threshold, trunk floor panels, and trays. Carefully set aside all removed items.

Access Interior Panels:
- Partially remove the lower interior trim panels on the driver’s side only, being careful not to damage clips.

Install the Driver-Side T-Connector:
- Attach the T-Connector containing the yellow and brown wires to the vehicle’s harness.
- Ensure the connectors are fully inserted and locking tabs are secure.

Route the T-Connector Harness:
- Route the green wire and 4-flat harness down the opening behind the driver’s side taillight.
- Route the 4-flat harness to the center of the vehicle and the green wire underneath to the passenger side.
- Route the green wire through the opening behind the passenger-side taillight.

Prepare the Grommet:
- Locate the grommet between the taillight pocket and trunk on the driver’s side.
- Carefully slit the grommet to allow routing of the T-Connector’s grey 12-pin and 1-pin connectors into the vehicle’s cargo area.

Connect the Grey 12-Pin Connector:
- Inside the vehicle, connect the grey 12-pin connector to the mating connector on the black box module.
- Ensure all connector surfaces are clean and fully inserted with locking tabs in place.

Mount the Black Box Module:
- Find a flat surface inside the vehicle and mount the black box using the provided double-sided tape.
- Warning: The black box must be mounted inside the vehicle to prevent damage from exposure to elements.

Connect the 1-Pin Housing:
- Locate the 1-pin housing taped to the taillight harness on the driver’s side.
- Plug the 1-pin housing from the T-Connector into the vehicle’s connector.

Ground the White Wire:
- Locate a suitable grounding point near the connector.
- Drill a 3/32” hole and secure the white wire using the provided eyelet and screw.

Install the Fuse:
- Open the vehicle hood and locate the fuse box on the driver’s side.
- Insert the 15-amp fuse into the position labeled “20A Trailer.”

Secure and Test:
- Secure the T-Connector harness with the provided cable ties, avoiding areas where the wiring could be pinched, cut, or melted.
- Test the installation with a test light or trailer.

Reassemble the Vehicle:
- Reinstall the plastic trim panels, threshold, storage covers, floor covering, and other items removed during installation, ensuring no wires are pinched.
