- Hitch ball lube
Step-by-Step Assembly Instructions:
Coupler Assembly:
-
Assemble Coupling Mechanism:
- Position the locking lever in the locked position.
- Ensure the notched end of the ball clamp pivots on the shaft.
- Place the light spring above the ball clamp and the heavy spring below the ball clamp and rectangular washer.
- Attach the lock nut with its radius or serration away from the heavy spring.
Note: The lock nut will be hard to turn—do not lubricate it.
-
Move Locking Lever:
- Shift the locking lever to the unlocked position.
-
Insert Ball:
- Insert the appropriate hitch ball into the coupling socket:
- 1-7/8" diameter for Class I.
- 2" diameter for Class II.
- Push the locking lever to the locked position.
- Insert the appropriate hitch ball into the coupling socket:
-
Adjust Lock Nut:
- Tighten the lock nut as far as possible—at this point, the locking lever should not lift.
- Back off the lock nut 1/2 turn at a time until the locking lever can be lifted.
Warning: Ensure at least 1-1/2 full threads of the locking bolt are visible beyond the lock nut after adjustment.
-
Optional Lock:
- The hole in the locking lever is designed for an optional coupler lock, if desired.
Maintenance Instructions:
-
Periodic Checks:
- Regularly check and tighten the lock nut slightly as needed to maintain proper ball fit in the coupling. Repeat step 4 for adjustment.
-
Lubrication:
- Periodically lubricate all moving parts.
- Do not lubricate the lock nut.
- Use hitch ball lube on the hitch ball to reduce friction and wear on both the hitch ball and coupler.
