Installation Instructions for Custom Quick Install Mounting Kit

Step-by-Step Instructions:
Pre-Installation:

Inspect Vehicle:
- Lower and remove the spare tire if additional space is required.
- Remove inner plastic wheel well liners for access to the frame.

Prepare Bed:
- Place galvanic isolator strips on the underside of mounting rails to protect the aluminum bed from corrosion.
- Center the rear rail and mark the drill hole locations.
Installation Steps:
1. Position and Mark Rear Rail:
- Place the rear mounting rail in the truck bed, ensuring it is centered and at the specified distance from the rear edge.
- Drill 1/8” pilot holes through the marked locations.
2. Enlarge Holes:
- Enlarge the pilot holes to 9/16”.
- For row 3, drill through both the bed and the crossmember. Enlarge the holes in the truck bed to 1-1/8” but not in the crossmember.
3. Install Frame Brackets:
- Attach frame brackets loosely using the provided bolts and nuts.
- Align the drilled holes with the rail slots and adjust brackets if necessary.
4. Secure Rear Rail:
- Insert tube spacers and spacer blocks in the drilled holes.
- Place bolts through the rail, spacers, and brackets. Tighten nuts and washers.
5. Install Front Rail:
- Use the hitch to align the front rail.
- Mark, drill, and secure the front rail using the same process as the rear rail.
6. Final Adjustments:
- Tighten all bolts to the specified torque values:
- 1/2” hardware: 110 ft-lbs
- 5/8” hardware: 212 ft-lbs
- Ensure all rails and brackets are securely fastened.
Important Notes:
- Do not drill through both sides of the truck frame.
- Repaint any bare metal areas to prevent rust.
- Verify proper clearance between the hitch and the truck cab before towing.
Maintenance:
- Inspect and re-torque bolts annually.
- Repaint drilled areas to prevent corrosion.

- As per the towing vehicle manufacturer's GVWR (Gross Vehicle Weight Rating).
Tools Required:
- Wrenches and sockets as specified in the base rail instructions.
Warnings:
- DO NOT exceed the manufacturer's GVWR for your vehicle.
- Ensure proper inspection, lubrication, and securing of components before each tow.
Step-by-Step Instructions:
1. Base Rail Installation:
- Place the base rails across the truck bed according to the base rail mounting kit instructions.
- Position the hitch on the base rails to establish the correct spread.
- If additional fasteners are required, drill holes in the center of the base rails at the nearest truck bed channel using the provided fasteners.
2. Hitch Installation:
- Secure the hitch to the base rails using pull pins and spring cotter pins.
- For safety chains:
- Insert the chain link into the provided slot.
- Secure the chain with additional pull pins and spring cotter pins (not included). The Reese Safety Chain Kit (#50223) is recommended.
3. Final Check:
- Inspect the hitch for any damage or missing components.
- Lubricate the ball and inspect all clips and pins for proper functionality.
- Verify the hitch is properly secured to the base rails and all components are in good condition.
Additional Mounting Instructions:
- Install base rails in accordance with the provided mounting instructions.
- If additional center bolts are not installed:
- Drill a 1/2” hole in the truck bed using the center hole in the base rail as a guide.
- Insert a 1/2” carriage bolt and secure it with a serrated washer, lock washer, and hex nut.
- Insert a spacer between the truck bed corrugation and the base rail to prevent crushing.
- Torque all 1/2” nuts to 75 ft-lbs.
- Repeat the process for the other base rail.
Maintenance:
- Regularly inspect the gooseneck hitch, safety chains, pull pins, and spring cotter pins for wear or damage.
- Clean and lubricate the ball before use.
- Retorque all fasteners to maintain secure connections.
