- Perform all test procedures outlined in the brake controller manual.
- Do NOT overload the circuit:
- Maximum capacity: 4 axles / 8 brakes (24 amps)
- Always follow the vehicle manufacturer’s towing and load limits.
Wiring Overview:
- Blue Wire: Brake control feed wire (output to trailer brakes)
- Red Wire: Battery (+) power supply
- Ground: Connects brake controller to vehicle ground
- Stop Lamp Switch (Input): Vehicle braking signal to the brake controller
Final Notes:
- Periodically inspect the connections for tightness and wear.
- Ensure all wires are properly routed away from sharp edges, heat sources, and pinch points.
- Consult the vehicle owner’s manual for additional information regarding towing and electrical connections.

Setting Power to Trailer Brakes:
- Connect the trailer to the tow vehicle.
- Locate the Manual Slide Knob and Power Knob on the Brake Control.
- Apply the Manual Slide Knob and turn the Power Knob until the display reads 4.0.
- Drive at 25 mph on a dry, level surface and apply the Manual Slide Knob:

- If braking is insufficient: Increase the power setting.
- Repeat the test until braking is smooth, without wheel lock-up.
Adjusting Display Orientation:
To reverse the display from upside down to right side up:
- Disconnect the Black Wire (battery connection) from the tow vehicle.
- Wait 5 seconds.
- Reconnect the Black Wire.
- Do not press the brake pedal or Manual Slide Knob while reconnecting.
Important Notes:
- Always warm trailer brakes by driving 1/4 mile at 45 mph while applying a low brake level.
- Do not exceed power settings that lock up the trailer brakes. Wheel skidding can cause loss of vehicle control.
- Adjust power settings for different loads or road conditions.
Troubleshooting:
Issue | Probable Cause | Solution |
---|---|---|
No display when connected to power | Poor connection (Black or White wires) | Check wiring connections and ground. |
Trailer brakes are too aggressive | Power set too high | Reduce power using Power Knob. |
Braking is weak or insufficient | Power set too low or poor connections | Increase power; check Blue wire. |
Display shows "0.0" when activated | Poor trailer connection or wiring issue | Inspect trailer connector and wiring. |
Safety Notes:
- Disconnect the trailer plug before testing the breakaway switch. Failure to do so may damage the Brake Control.
- Regularly inspect trailer brakes and connections to ensure proper operation.
