Installation Instructions for Dodge Ram Pickup with or without OEM Hitch

- Hack Saw (for 1500 short bed models)
Step-by-Step Instructions:

Position Hitch:
- Raise the hitch into position by moving it forward to clear the bumper mounting bolts, then slide the hitch rearward into position.
- Align holes in the hitch with holes in the frame rail and slot in the vertical bumper bracket.

Adjust for 1500 Short Bed Models (2006–2008):
- Cut the inner exhaust support rod and remove it from the rubber exhaust isolator.
- Align the rearmost hole in the hitch with the rearmost hole in the vehicle frame. Forward holes will need to be drilled into the frame.

Install Fasteners:
- Use a hex bolt and flat washer through the hitch side bracket hole into the bumper bracket slot.
- Secure with:
- (1) Spacer Block (0.25" x 1.5" x 2.0")
- (1) Lock Washer
- (1) Hex Nut
- Tighten all 1/2"-13 fasteners to 75 lb-ft (102 N*m).

Drill Frame Holes:
- Use the hitch as a template to drill forward holes into the frame rail on short bed models.
- On long bed models, drill the forward-most hole into the frame as per Figure 1.

Install Rear Blocks and Bolts:
- Slide or push spacer blocks (0.25" x 1.5" x 3.50" and 0.25" x 2.0" x 2.0") through the end of the frame between the frame spacer and vehicle crossmember.
- Align blocks with holes in the hitch side bracket (see Figures 2 and 3).
- Fishwire carriage bolts through slots in the frame rail and down through the blocks and side brackets.
- Secure with lock washers and nuts.

Tighten All Fasteners:
- Tighten all 9/16"-12 fasteners to 110 lb-ft (149 N*m).
Torque Specifications:
- 9/16"-12 GR5 bolts: 110 lb-ft (149 N*m)
- 1/2"-13 GR5 bolts: 75 lb-ft (102 N*m)
Hardware List:
- (2) Hex Bolts, 9/16"-12 x 2.0" GR5
- (6) Carriage Bolts, 1/2"-13 x 1.75" GR5
- (2) Flat Washers, 9/16"
- (2) Blocks, 0.375" x 1.5" x 3.0"
