Installation Instructions for Ford Focus (All Except ST Model)

- Wrenches: 13mm, 11/16”
Specifications:
- Max Gross Trailer Weight: 2,000 lb. (908 kg)

- Note: Do not exceed the towing vehicle manufacturer’s rating.
Step-by-Step Instructions:

Lower Exhaust System:
- Remove the two (2) M8 bolts holding the exhaust hangers on both sides.
- Return the bolts to the vehicle owner.

Trim Heat Shield:
- Use tin snips to trim the heat shield in the area where the hitch side bracket mounts to the bottom of the frame.
- Repeat for both sides.
-
Cut and Apply Plastic Isolator Strips:
- Cut the plastic isolator strips in half.
- Apply the two halves of each strip to the bottom of the hitch side brackets, between the slot and the large access hole.
- Ensure the strips are positioned between the exhaust hanger and the side bracket.

Raise Hitch and Reinstall Exhaust Hangers:
- Lift the hitch into position.
- Reinstall the exhaust hangers using the M8-1.25 x 40mm bolts, lock washers, and flat washers provided with the hitch.

Install Carriage Bolt and Block:
- Using the provided pull wire, install a block and 7/16” carriage bolt through the access hole in the hitch, bottom of the frame, and through the hole on the side of the frame.
- Note: It is easier to insert the bolt and spacer into the frame separately.

Secure with Conical Washer and Hex Nut:
- Attach the conical toothed washer and hex nut to the carriage bolt on both sides.

Tighten Fasteners:
- Torque all fasteners to specifications:
- 7/16”-14 GR5 fasteners: 50 Lb.-Ft. (68 N*M)
- M8-1.25 CL10.9 fasteners: 27 Lb.-Ft. (37 N*M)
- Torque all fasteners to specifications:

Installation Instructions for T-Connector Adapter for Ford Focus Sedan

Step-by-Step Instructions:

Open the Trunk:
- Remove the threshold panel.
- Partially remove the felt trunk liner on both sides to expose the vehicle’s taillight wiring harness.

Locate the Taillight Wiring Harness:
- On the driver’s side, locate the vehicle’s taillight wiring harness and separate the connectors carefully without breaking the locking tabs.
- Ensure that the mating surfaces of the vehicle harness connectors match the T-Connector ends and are clean and free of dirt.

Connect the Driver-Side T-Connector:
- Attach the T-Connector end containing the yellow and brown wires between the vehicle’s wiring connectors.
- Ensure the connectors are fully inserted and the locking tabs are secure.

Route the Passenger-Side T-Connector:
- Route the T-Connector containing the green wire below the threshold cover to the passenger’s side taillight housing.
- Repeat Step 3 using the T-Connector ends containing the green and red wires.

Mount the Black Box:
- Locate a flat surface on the driver’s side in an out-of-the-way location.
- Mount the T-Connector’s black converter box using the provided double-sided tape.

Ground the White Wire:
- Locate a suitable grounding point on the driver’s side near the connectors.
- Drill a 3/32” hole and secure the white wire with the provided eyelet and screw.
Caution:
- Verify what is behind the surface before drilling to avoid damage to the vehicle or personal injury.

Connect the Power Wire:
- On the driver’s side, locate the red 12-gauge power wire from the T-Connector box.
- Attach the black 12-gauge wire provided using the yellow butt connector.

Route the Black Wire:
- Route the black wire either through a grommet along the exterior frame or follow existing wiring along the thresholds into the engine compartment up to the battery.
- Avoid areas that may pinch or damage the wire.

Connect to the Vehicle Battery:
- Disconnect the vehicle’s negative (-) battery cable.
- Attach the yellow fuse holder to the vehicle’s positive (+) battery cable using the provided ring terminal.
- Connect the black wire to the fuse holder using the yellow butt connector.
- Insert the 10-amp fuse into the fuse holder.

Reconnect the Battery:
- Reconnect the vehicle’s negative (-) battery cable.
Warning:
- Ensure all connections are complete for proper functionality. Test with a test light or trailer to verify the installation.

Reassemble the Vehicle:
