Installation Instructions for 2014-Current Toyota Highlander and Lexus RX350L

Step-by-Step Instructions:

Remove Appearance Panels:
- If present, remove the plastic appearance panels covering the driver’s and/or passenger’s side frame rails.
- Remove the plastic rivets fastening the fascia tabs to the appearance panel.
- Note: Use a small screwdriver to remove the center of the rivet.
- The passenger-side panel can be reinstalled. Return the driver-side panel and fasteners to the owner.

Remove Tow Hooks:
- Remove tow hooks from each frame rail and return the hooks and fasteners to the vehicle owner.

Remove Plastic and Rubber Plugs:
- Remove the plastic and rubber plugs from the bottom of the frame rail. Return to the owner.

Lower Exhaust:
- Remove the two M8 bolts from the exhaust hanger bracket.
- Install the supplied exhaust hanger bracket (Item 6) onto the frame rail using the existing M8 bolts.
- Use M8x1.25 bolts to attach the exhaust hanger bracket to the exhaust hanger.

Align and Install Hitch:
- Be careful not to pinch hoses on the outside of the passenger-side frame rail or scratch the fascia.
- Remove any excess caulking from the frame rails if necessary.
- Align the hitch into position over the existing weldnuts and install the fasteners into the bottom of the frame rails.
- Note: The existing fascia tab should be reinstalled between the frame rail and the hitch bracket.

Tighten Fasteners:
- Tighten all M12x1.25 CL8.8 fasteners to 76 ft-lbs (103 Nm).
- Tighten all M8x1.25 CL8.8 fasteners to 20 ft-lbs (27 Nm).

Reinstall Passenger-Side Appearance Panel:
- Reinstall the passenger-side panel using the original fasteners.

- (6) Hex Bolt M12x1.25x30 CL8.8
- (6) Conical Washer 1/2" (PN: 01292008)
- (2) Conical Washer 3/8" (PN: 01292006)
- (2) Nut M8x1.25
- (2) Flange Bolt M8x1.25x30

Step-by-Step Instructions:
1. Remove Appearance Panels:

2008-2013 Toyota Highlander:

Locate the 10-Pin Tow Plug:
- Under the dashboard on the driver’s side, locate the 10-pin tow plug between the emergency brake pedal and the brake pedal.
- Ensure the mating surfaces of the vehicle harness connectors match the 10-pin tow plug adapter ends.

Connect the 10-Pin Tow Plug Adapter:
- Insert the 10-pin tow plug adapter and lock it into place. Be careful not to damage the locking tabs and ensure the connectors are fully inserted.

Mount the Black Box:
- Route the converter over to the driver’s side kick panel area.
- Locate the opening between the vehicle body and the emergency brake pedal bracket and mount the black box in this area using the provided double-sided tape.
- Secure the remainder of the wiring harness using the provided cable ties to prevent damage or rattling.
