Installation Instructions for Kia Forte (2019-Current)

Step-by-Step Instructions:

Remove Underbody Panel:
- Using a flat head screwdriver, a 10mm socket, and a 12mm socket, remove (5) rivets, (2) nuts, and (1) nut from the driver-side underbody panel.
- Remove the panel and set it aside.

Lower Exhaust:
- Use exhaust removal pliers to detach (2) rubber hangers from the rearmost points of the muffler.
- Spray lubricant or soapy water on the hangers to ease removal.
- Ensure the exhaust is properly supported before removing the hangers.

Remove Heat Shield:
- Using a 10mm socket, remove (5) nuts securing the exhaust heat shield.
- Remove the heat shield.

Install Forward Fasteners:
- Using a flat head screwdriver, remove the plastic cover from the frame's access holes on both sides.
- Feed the 7/16" carriage bolts and spacers into the forward attachment holes through the access holes using pull wires. Leave the pull wires attached.

Drill Rearward Holes:
- Raise the hitch into position and align it with the forward attachment holes and carriage bolts.
- Use a marker to mark the drill points for the rearward hole centers on both sides.
- Lower the hitch and drill 1/2" holes at the marked points on both sides.

Trim Underbody Panel and Heat Shield:
- Measure, mark, and trim the underbody panel and heat shield using a tape measure, marker, tin snips, and utility knife as shown in the provided instructions.

Install Hitch:
- Feed the remaining carriage bolts and spacers into the drilled holes using the pull wires.
- Reinstall the heat shield with (4) nuts.
- Raise the hitch into position, guiding the pull wires through the bracket holes.
- Remove the pull wires and loosely install conical washers (teeth side toward hitch) and hex nuts onto the hitch.

Tighten Fasteners:
- Torque all 7/16"-14 GR5 fasteners to 50 ft-lb (68 N*m) using a torque wrench.

Reinstall Exhaust and Underbody Panel:
- Reattach the exhaust by reinstalling the rubber hangers.
- Reinstall the underbody panel. Note: The rearmost fasteners of the underbody panel will not be reinstalled after trimming.

- (4) Spacer, 0.88 x 2.00 x 0.109 (Part No. 1204)

Safety Notes:
- Always wear safety glasses during installation.

- Replace any damaged hitch or ball immediately.
