Installation Instructions for Dodge Ram 1500 Pickup

- Max Gross Trailer Weight:

Step-by-Step Instructions:

Lower Spare Tire:
- Remove the spare tire from the vehicle to gain access.

Remove Bumper Hardware:
- Detach the plastic step tread from the bumper using pliers. Remove two plastic push pins on the rearward portion of the step tread.

Position Hitch:
- Raise the hitch into position and lift the step tread slightly to fit.

Install Carriage Bolts:
- Fishwire the 1/2" carriage bolts and blocks through the frame rails to align them with the hitch slots.

Attach Fasteners:
- Secure the hitch using the conical toothed washers and hex nuts on the carriage bolts. Ensure all fasteners are loosely installed.

Tighten Fasteners:
- Torque all 1/2"-13 GR5 fasteners to 75 Lb.-Ft. (102 N*M).

Reinstall Spare Tire:
- Raise the spare tire back into position after completing installation.
Hardware List:
- (6) Carriage Bolts: 1/2"-13 x 1-3/4" GR5
- (6) Spacer Blocks: 1/4" x 1" x 3"
- (6) Conical Toothed Washers: 1/2"
- (6) Hex Nuts: 1/2"-13
Safety Notes:
- Regularly inspect all fasteners and the hitch ball to ensure they are securely tightened.
- If the hitch is removed, plug all holes in the trunk pan or body panels to prevent water or exhaust fumes from entering.
- Replace any damaged hitch or ball immediately.
- Always observe safety precautions and wear eye protection when working beneath the vehicle.
- Do not cut access or attachment holes with a torch.
