Installation Instructions for Electric Trailer Brake Control Wiring Adapter

Step-by-Step Instructions:
Step 1: Locate the Vehicle’s Electric Junction Box
- Find the black Electric Junction Box inside the vehicle:
- Under the dashboard, left of the steering column, just above the carpet.
- Remove the cover of the Electric Junction Box.
- Locate the connection point for the electric trailer brakes in the top row, second slot from the left.
Step 2: Plug the Brake Control Adapter into the Vehicle Connector
- Plug the brake control adapter into the mating connection point inside the Electric Junction Box.
- Use a circuit tester to verify that battery (+) power is supplied to the adapter.
NOTE:
- Not all vehicles are pre-wired with complete power connections to the battery and/or wiring for electric trailer brakes.
- If power is already supplied, skip to Step 4.
Step 3: Add Power Supply (If Required)
For vehicles with no power supply:

Use an Electric Brake Control Wiring Kit and route all wires as described in the wiring kit instructions or as follows:
A. Vehicle Brake Control Feed Wire (Blue):
- Open the vehicle’s hood and locate the black Electrical Center Box on the driver’s side.
- Remove the cover to access the blue brake control feed wire.
- This step may require temporarily removing the vehicle’s support brace.
B. Vehicle Battery (+) Power Supply Wire (Red):
- Locate the red battery (+) power supply wire in the Electrical Center Box.
- Connect the wiring and ensure an in-line fuse or circuit breaker is installed.
- Reinstall the Electrical Center Box cover, lid, and support brace.
Step 4: Connect the Brake Controller
- Plug the brake control adapter into the vehicle’s brake control harness connector.
- Follow the brake control manufacturer’s instructions for wiring and mounting the unit.
Warnings:
- Complete the installation following the brake control manufacturer’s instructions.
- Mount the brake controller securely as directed.
- Perform all test procedures outlined in the brake controller manual.
- Do NOT overload the circuit:
- Maximum capacity: 4 axles / 8 brakes (24 amps)
- Always follow the vehicle manufacturer’s towing and load limits.
Wiring Overview:

- Drill with 1/8" drill bit

Important Notes:
- Avoid RF Interference: Do not mount RF-generating devices (cell phones, radios) within 12 inches of the unit.
- Breakaway Battery: Reverse wiring of a breakaway battery will destroy the Brake Control.

Mounting Instructions:

Select a Suitable Mounting Location:
- Choose a solid surface within easy reach of the driver.
