Installation Instructions for T-Connector Trailer Wiring Harness

- Trim Panel Remover
- 10mm Socket & Ratchet (or Wrench)
- Drill with 3/32” drill bit
- 1/4” Socket
- Wire Crimpers
- Wire Cutters

Step-by-Step Instructions:

Prepare the Vehicle:
- Open the rear tailgate.
- Remove the threshold, trunk floor panels, and trays.
- Carefully set all removed items aside to prevent damage.

Remove Cargo Loops and Screws:
- On both the driver’s side and passenger’s side, remove the cargo loops and Phillips head screws.
- Pull the trim panels away from the vehicle to expose the wiring harness.

Access the Taillight Wiring Harness:
- Locate the vehicle’s taillight wiring harness on both sides.
- Separate the connectors carefully without breaking the locking tabs.
- Ensure that all surfaces of the connectors are clean and free of debris.

Install the Driver-Side T-Connector:
- Attach the T-Connector with the yellow and brown wires to the vehicle’s wiring harness on the driver’s side.
- Ensure the connectors are fully inserted and the locking tabs are engaged.

Route the Passenger-Side T-Connector:
- Route the T-Connector with the green wire beneath the threshold cover to the passenger side.
- Repeat Step 4 for the passenger-side taillight harness.
Note: Route the 4-flat connector below the driver’s side trim panel into the rear storage compartment. Store it there when not in use.

Mount the Black Converter Box:
- Locate a flat surface in an out-of-the-way area near the driver-side wiring.
- Secure the T-Connector’s black converter box using the provided double-sided tape.

Ground the White Wire:
- Locate a suitable grounding point near the black converter box, such as the vehicle frame or crossmember.
- Clean the area to remove dirt and rust.
- Drill a 3/32” hole and secure the white wire using the provided eyelet and screw.
Caution: Verify what is behind the surface before drilling to avoid vehicle damage or injury.

Route the Power Wire:
- Locate the black 12-gauge wire from the T-Connector.
- Attach the provided black 12-gauge wire using the supplied yellow butt connector.
- Route the black wire:
- Through an existing grommet and along the exterior frame, or
- Along the interior thresholds into the engine compartment.
Warning: Avoid routing the wire near hot pipes, heat shields, the fuel tank, or sharp edges that may damage the wire.

Connect the Power Wire to the Battery:
- Disconnect the vehicle’s negative (-) battery cable.
- Cut the yellow fuse holder wire and attach the ring terminal to one end.
- Secure the ring terminal to the vehicle’s positive (+) battery terminal.
- Connect the other end of the fuse holder to the black 12-gauge wire using the yellow butt connector.
- Install the provided 10-amp fuse into the fuse holder.

Test the System:
- Reconnect the vehicle’s negative (-) battery cable.
- Use a test light or connect a trailer to verify the following functions:
- Left Turn Signal
- Right Turn Signal
- Brake Lights
- Running Lights
Note: Reset the vehicle’s electrical system by temporarily removing the key from the ignition if needed.

Secure the Wiring:
- Use the provided cable ties to secure the T-Connector wiring harness along the route.
- Avoid areas where the wires may pinch, cut, or melt.

Reassemble the Vehicle:
- Reinstall the trim panels, threshold, storage covers, and other components removed earlier.
- Ensure the wiring harness is not pinched or damaged during reassembly.
Specifications:
- Stop/Turn Lights: 4.2 amps per side
- Taillights: 7.5 amps total
