Step-by-Step Instructions:

Raise Hitch into Position:
- Raise the hitch into position over the exhaust system.
- Align the slots in the hitch with the weld nuts located in the frame rails closest to the rear end of the vehicle.

Install Hardware:
- Install the provided M12 hex bolts and 1/2" conical toothed washers into the weld nuts.
- Hand-tighten the bolts initially.

Torque Fasteners:
- Torque all M12 fasteners to 86 lb-ft.

Check for Clearance and Adjust as Needed:
- On Toyota Matrix XR and XRS models, minor trimming of the lower valance may be required for proper clearance.
- Verify that the hitch does not interfere with the exhaust or heat shield. Adjust if necessary.

Installation Instructions for Pontiac Vibe

Step-by-Step Instructions:

Prepare the Cargo Area:
- Open the vehicle's tailgate.
- Remove the driver and passenger side wiring access panels located in the cargo area.
- Remove the following items: carpet, spare tire retaining cap, tire jack storage tray, spare tire retaining nut, and spare tire.

Locate and Disconnect Taillight Wiring Harness:
- On both the driver and passenger sides, locate the vehicle's taillight wiring harness connectors, which resemble those on the custom wiring harness.
- Carefully separate the connectors from the taillight housing, ensuring not to damage the locking tabs.

Install the Custom Wiring Harness (Driver Side):
- On the driver side, route the custom wiring harness ends with the red and brown wires, as well as the yellow wire, through the opening below the side cargo storage area behind the panel to the wiring access area.
- Insert the custom wiring harness adapter between the separated connectors.
- Ensure the connectors are fully inserted with locking tabs in place.

Install the Custom Wiring Harness (Passenger Side):
- Route the custom wiring harness end with the green wire to the passenger side.
- Repeat the connection process on the passenger side using the harness end with the green wire.

Establish Ground Connection:
- Locate a suitable grounding point near the connector, such as an existing screw with a nut in the vehicle frame, or drill a 3/32" pilot hole for the provided screw.
- Ensure the area is free of rust, dirt, and paint.
- Secure the white ground wire using the ring terminal and provided screw.
Warning: Before drilling, check for any items that may be hidden behind or under any surface to avoid damage and/or personal injury.

Mount the Converter Box:
- Locate a flat spot inside the vehicle near the taillight.
- Adhere the black converter box using the provided double-sided tape.

Route the Black Power Wire:
- Route the black power wire from the vehicle battery as shown on the included CME-PCL-INS sheet.

Position the 4-Flat Connector:
- When in use, route the 4-flat connector to the center of the vehicle and out of the trunk.
- When not in use, roll up and store it in a convenient, out-of-the-way location inside the trunk.
- Secure any loose wires with the provided cable ties.

Reassemble the Vehicle:
- Reinstall all items removed during installation.
- Install the provided 4-flat dust cover to help prevent corrosion.
